The river is the\u00a0last tributary of the Yamuna\u00a0before the Yamuna joins the Ganga.<\/li>\n<li>Course:\n<ul>\n<li>The river\u00a0originates near the village of Ahirgawan\u00a0on the north-west slopes of the Kaimur Range in the district of Jabalpur,\u00a0Madhya Pradesh.<\/li>\n<li>Crossing the Bijawar-Panna hills,\u00a0the river cuts a 60 km long, and 150- 180 m\u00a0deep gorge. It is joined by several streams in this gorge, making waterfalls.<\/li>\n<li>It travels a distance of\u00a0427 km and then\u00a0merges with the Yamuna at Chilla village,\u00a0near Fatehpur in Uttar Pradesh.\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>It is known for its rare\u00a0Sajhar or Dendritic Agate stone.<\/li>\n<li>Banda city is located on the banks of Ken River.<\/li>\n<li>Tributaries: The major tributaries of the Ken River are\u00a0Bawas, Dewar, Kaith, Baink, Kopra, and\u00a0Bearma.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>Ken-Betwa River Link Project<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>It aims to\u00a0transfer surplus water from the\u00a0Ken River to the Betwa River basin\u00a0through\u00a0concrete canal to irrigate India\u2019s worst drought-prone Bundelkhand region.<\/li>\n<li>It is the first project under the National Perspective Plan for the interlinking of rivers.\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>It aims to\u00a0provide irrigation to the Bundelkhand region, which is one of the worst drought-affected areas in India.\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>The project will\u00a0benefit Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh in terms of meeting the irrigation, drinking water, and electricity needs of people across six districts in the two states.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<hr \/>\n<h3>Q1) What is the Bundelkhand region?<\/h3>\n<p>Bundelkhand is a geographical and cultural region, divided between the states of Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh.
