


{"id":20974,"date":"2024-02-27T05:12:07","date_gmt":"2024-02-26T23:42:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/?p=20974"},"modified":"2025-04-06T08:54:40","modified_gmt":"2025-04-06T03:24:40","slug":"indra-rv25240n","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/indra-rv25240n\/","title":{"rendered":"What is INDRA RV25: 240N?"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2>About INDRA RV25: 240N<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>It is a\u00a0micro turbojet engine.<\/li>\n<li>It is designed and\u00a0developed indigenously by\u00a0Hyderabad-based firm\u00a0Raghu Vamsi Machine Tools\u00a0with\u00a0support from IIT Hyderabad.<\/li>\n<li>It has\u00a0primarily been developed for unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) or drones.<\/li>\n<li>The engine has applications in UAVs, air taxis, jetpacks, auxiliary power units, range extenders, and power generation in the future.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>What is a turbojet engine?<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>A turbojet engine is a jet engine which\u00a0produces all of its thrust by ejecting a\u00a0high energy gas stream from the\u00a0engine exhaust nozzle.\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>In contrast to a turbofan or bypass engine,\u00a0100% of the air entering the intake of a turbojet\u00a0engine\u00a0goes through the engine core.<\/li>\n<li>Components: The component parts of a turbojet engine are the\u00a0inlet, the\u00a0gas turbine engine,\u00a0consisting of a\u00a0compressor, a\u00a0combustion chamber and a\u00a0turbine, and the\u00a0exhaust nozzle.<\/li>\n<li>Working:\n<ul>\n<li>Air is drawn into the engine\u00a0through the inlet\u00a0and compressed and heated\u00a0by the\u00a0compressor.\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>Fuel is then added to the combustion chamber\u00a0and ignited.\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>The\u00a0burning fuel adds energy to the exhaust stream by heating and expanding the air.\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>Sufficient\u00a0energy to drive the compressor is\u00a0extracted from the exhaust stream by the turbine.<\/li>\n<li>The\u00a0remainder of the exhaust energy is\u00a0used to produce thrust, a process which is enhanced by the geometry of the exhaust nozzle.<\/li>\n<li>As the exhaust gas passes through the nozzle, it is\u00a0accelerated to high speed as it expands, thus\u00a0providing propulsion.<\/li>\n<li>The thrust produced by the engine can be selectively increased by incorporating an afterburner or re-heat into the engine design.<\/li>\n<li>Turbojet aircraft\u00a0work on the principle of accelerating a relatively\u00a0small mass of air to a high speed.<\/li>\n<li>As optimum efficiency is achieved\u00a0when the speed of the accelerated air\u00a0approximates that of the aircraft, turbojet engines do not reach peak efficiency until speeds approach Mach 2.<\/li>\n<li>Thus, turbojets have\u00a0relatively poor propulsive efficiency at lower airspeeds, limiting their usefulness to high-speed aircraft.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<hr \/>\n<h3>Q1) What is a turbofan engine?<\/h3>\n<p>A turbofan engine is the most modern variation of the basic gas turbine engine. As with other gas turbines, there is a core engine, whose parts and operation are discussed on a separate page. In the turbofan engine, the core engine is surrounded by a fan in the front and an additional turbine at the rear.
