{"id":21047,"date":"2026-09-09T11:37:19","date_gmt":"2026-09-09T06:07:19","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/?p=21047"},"modified":"2026-09-09T16:24:53","modified_gmt":"2026-09-09T10:54:53","slug":"fiu","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/fiu\/","title":{"rendered":"Financial Intelligence Unit\u2013India"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2><b>Financial Intelligence Unit- India Latest News<\/b><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Recently, the Director, Financial Intelligence Unit-India (FIU-IND) has issued notices for non-compliance to following fifteen (15) Virtual Digital Assets Service Providers (VDA SPs) under Section 13 of the Prevention of Money Laundering Act, 2002(PMLA).\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b>About Financial Intelligence Unit- India<\/b><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It was set by the <\/span><b>Government of India in 2004.<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It is the <\/span><b>central national agency<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> responsible for receiving, processing, analyzing and disseminating information relating to suspect financial transactions.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">FIU-IND is an independent body reporting <\/span><b>directly to the Economic Intelligence Council<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (EIC) <\/span><b>headed by the Finance Minister.<\/b><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2><b>Function of Financial Intelligence Unit-India<\/b><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Collection of Information:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> It acts as the central reception point for receiving <\/span><b>Cash Transaction reports<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (CTRs), <\/span><b>Non-Profit Organisation Transaction Report <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">(NTRs), Cross Border Wire Transfer Reports (CBWTRs) from various reporting entities.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Analysis of Information<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">: Analyze received information in <\/span><b>order to uncover patterns of transactions suggesting<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> suspicion of money laundering and related crimes.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Sharing of Information:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> It shares information with national intelligence\/law enforcement agencies, national regulatory authorities and foreign Financial Intelligence Units.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Central Repository:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> It establishes and <\/span><b>maintains a national database<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> on the basis of reports received from reporting entities.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Coordination:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> It coordinates and strengthens <\/span><b>collection and sharing of financial intelligence<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> through an effective national, regional and global network to combat money laundering and related crimes.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Research and Analysis:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> Monitor and identify strategic key areas on money laundering trends, typologies and developments.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b>Source: <\/b><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.pib.gov.in\/PressReleaseDetail.aspx?PRID=2308131&amp;reg=3&amp;lang=1\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">PIB<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Financial Intelligence Unit\u2013India was set by the Government of India in 2004.
