{"id":21067,"date":"2024-03-01T09:15:20","date_gmt":"2024-03-01T03:45:20","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/?p=21067"},"modified":"2025-04-06T09:35:57","modified_gmt":"2025-04-06T04:05:57","slug":"vvc","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/vvc\/","title":{"rendered":"Vikramaditya Vedic Clock"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2>About Vikramaditya Vedic Clock<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>It is the\u00a0world\u2019s first &#8216;Vedic Clock&#8217;, designed to\u00a0display time according to the ancient\u00a0Indian traditional Panchang (time calculation system).<\/li>\n<li>It has been positioned on an 85-foot tower within Jantar Mantar in\u00a0Ujjain, Madhya Pradesh.<\/li>\n<li>It also\u00a0provides information on\u00a0planetary positions, Muhurat, astrological calculations, and\u00a0predictions.<\/li>\n<li>In addition to this, it\u00a0also indicates Indian Standard Time\u00a0(IST) and Greenwich Mean Time\u00a0(GMT).\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>The clock will\u00a0calculate time from one sunrise to another.\u00a0\n<ul>\n<li>The\u00a0period between the\u00a0two sunrises will be\u00a0divided into 30 parts, whose\u00a0one hour consists of 48 minutes, according to ISD.\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>The\u00a0reading will start from 0:00 with\u00a0the sunrise functions for 30 hours (an hour of 48 minutes).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>It has been\u00a0developed by Lucknow-based Sanstha Arohan, using digital interventions, enabling it to be\u00a0connected to the internet\u00a0and provide a wide range of\u00a0features through a mobile app named after the clock.<\/li>\n<li>Why Ujjain?\n<ul>\n<li>Ujjain&#8217;s\u00a0rich heritage in timekeeping dates back centuries, with the city playing a pivotal role in determining India&#8217;s time zones and time difference.\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>Ujjain is\u00a0located at the\u00a0precise point of interaction with zero meridian and Tropic of Cancer.<\/li>\n<li>Before 82.5E longitude was\u00a0adopted for IST,\u00a0Ujjain (75.78E) was\u00a0considered as Bharat\u2019s time meridian.<\/li>\n<li>The\u00a0Vikrami Panchang and Vikram Samvat calendars are also\u00a0released from Ujjain, which makes Ujjain the ideal location to have the Vaidik Clock.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<hr \/>\n<h3>Q1) What is Greenwich Mean Time (GMT)?<\/h3>\n<p>Greenwich Mean Time or GMT is the mean (average) solar time at the Greenwich Meridian or Prime Meridian, 0 degrees longitude. The time displayed by the Shepherd Gate Clock at the Royal Observatory in Greenwich, London, is always GMT.
