{"id":21120,"date":"2024-03-02T08:19:59","date_gmt":"2024-03-02T02:49:59","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/?p=21120"},"modified":"2025-04-06T09:59:32","modified_gmt":"2025-04-06T04:29:32","slug":"exercise-samudra-laksamana","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/exercise-samudra-laksamana\/","title":{"rendered":"Exercise Samudra Laksamana"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2>About Exercise Samudra Laksamana<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>It is a\u00a0joint naval exercise between the Indian Navy and\u00a0Royal Malaysian Navy.<\/li>\n<li>It is the\u00a03rd edition of this exercise.<\/li>\n<li>Indian Naval Ship Kiltan and Royal Malaysian Ship KD Lekir are participating in this exercise which has\u00a0harbour professional interactions followed by the\u00a0operational phase at sea.<\/li>\n<li>At harbour, crew of both ships will have various professional interactions, Subject Matter Expert Exchange on topics of mutual interest, sports fixtures, and other interactions.<\/li>\n<li>These interactions are aimed to enhance knowledge base, share best practices and further cooperation on maritime aspects.<\/li>\n<li>During sea phase, units would be jointly honing skills while conducting various operations at sea.<\/li>\n<li>The exercise aims to strengthen bonds and enhance interoperability between the Indian and Royal Malaysian Navy.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>Key points about INS Kiltan<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>It is an\u00a0indigenously-built anti-submarine warfare stealth corvette<\/li>\n<li>This is the third of the four Kamorta-class corvettes being built under Project 28.<\/li>\n<li>The ship derives its name from one of the islands in Aminidivi group of the strategically located Lakshadweep and Minicoy group of islands.<\/li>\n<li>It is designed by the Indian Navy\u2019s in-house organisation Directorate of Naval Design and built by Garden Reach Shipbuilders &amp; Engineers (GRSE) in Kolkata.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<hr \/>\n<h3>Q1) What is a submarine?<\/h3>\n<p>A submarine is a specialized watercraft capable of operating underwater.
