Its length is 8 km, and its maximum width is about 6 km.<\/li>\n<li>It happens to be the <strong>biggest of the seven inhabitable islands in the region<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>A unique feature of this island is that it is <strong>flat and oval-shaped,<\/strong> which is <strong>wind-swept at almost all times<\/strong>, which makes the place very soothing.<\/li>\n<li>There are <strong>no streams<\/strong> on the island. The major source of freshwater is surface water, which is collected in natural depressions and artificial ponds.<\/li>\n<li>On the island there are varied kinds of <strong>dry shrubs and semi-arid tropical plants<\/strong>. This island also has <strong>tall palm trees,<\/strong> which add to the overall beachy feel of the island.\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>A <strong>Dutch fort made of dead coral chunks<\/strong> is also located on this island.<\/li>\n<li>It is home to a population of <strong>4,800 Tamil people<\/strong>, living in compounds only in the northern half of the island.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<hr \/>\n<h3><strong>Q1: What language is spoken in Delft Island?<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>Sri Lankan Tamil is the major language spoken in the province by the vast majority of the population.
