{"id":21232,"date":"2024-03-05T03:20:21","date_gmt":"2024-03-04T21:50:21","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/?p=21232"},"modified":"2025-04-06T10:45:47","modified_gmt":"2025-04-06T05:15:47","slug":"cavum-clouds","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/cavum-clouds\/","title":{"rendered":"Cavum clouds"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2>About Cavum clouds<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>These clouds are also known as \u201chole-punch clouds or\u00a0fallstreak holes.\u201d<\/li>\n<li>How are Cavum clouds formed?\n<ul>\n<li>These are formed when aeroplanes pass through layers of\u00a0altocumulus clouds, which are mid-level clouds containing\u00a0supercooled water droplets (water below freezing temperature but still in liquid form).<\/li>\n<li>As the aircraft moves through, a process\u00a0known as adiabatic expansion can cause the water droplets to freeze into ice crystals.<\/li>\n<li>These ice crystals eventually become too\u00a0heavy and fall out of the cloud layer, creating a hole in the clouds.<\/li>\n<li>These &#8220;mysterious clouds&#8221; has been ongoing for over 13 years.<\/li>\n<li>They are formed when planes pass through at a relatively steep angle.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>What are Altocumulus clouds?<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>These are typically found in groups or\u00a0heaps clumped together.<\/li>\n<li>They\u2019re found in the middle layer of the troposphere, lower than cirrocumulus and higher than their cumulus and stratocumulus counterparts.<\/li>\n<li>The term mackerel sky is also common to altocumulus (and cirrocumulus) clouds that display a pattern resembling fish scales.<\/li>\n<li>These are the one of the most diverse and dynamic in terms of appearance.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<hr \/>\n<h3>Q1) What is the troposphere?<\/h3>\n<p>It is the lowest layer of the Earth&#8217;s atmosphere in direct contact with the Earth&#8217;s surface.
