{"id":21240,"date":"2026-10-11T12:19:38","date_gmt":"2026-10-11T06:49:38","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/?p=21240"},"modified":"2026-10-13T15:35:49","modified_gmt":"2026-10-13T10:05:49","slug":"project-seabird","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/project-seabird\/","title":{"rendered":"Project Seabird"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2><b>Project Seabird Latest News<\/b><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Recently, the Chief of the defence staff inaugurated critical trunk utility and amenity infrastructure for the Indian Navy as part of Project Seabird Phase IIA at the naval base in Karnataka\u2019s Karwar.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b>About Project Seabird<\/b><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It is the <\/span><b>largest naval infrastructure project<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> for India.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><b>Location:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> It involves creation of a <\/span><b>naval base at <a href=\"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/karwar-port\/\" target=\"_blank\">Karwar,<\/a> Karnataka, on the west coast of India.\u00a0<\/b><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It is a massive project spread over around 11,000 acres of land. With the first sealift facility in the country and a transfer system for docking and undocking ships and submarines.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><b>Phases of Project Seabird<\/b>\n<ul>\n<li><b>Phase 1:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> Its first phase, which included the construction of a <\/span><b>deep-sea harbour, breakwaters<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> dredging, a township, a naval hospital, a dockyard uplift centre and a ship lift, was commissioned in 2005.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><b>Phase 2:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> The development of phase 2 of <\/span><b>INS Kadamba commenced in 2011.<\/b><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This phase is further <\/span><b>divided into 2A and 2B<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.
