set to launch a nationwide Human Papillomavirus (HPV) vaccination programme targeting girls aged 14 years.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b>About Human Papillomavirus (HPV)<\/b><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">HPV is the <\/span><b>most common sexually transmitted infection (STI),<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and there are more than <\/span><b>100 types of HPV<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. <\/span><b>Most do not cause health problems.<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">However,<\/span><b> some types of HPV <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">infection <\/span><b>cause skin growths called warts,<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and some types of HPV infection <\/span><b>can cause cancer.<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><b>More than 95% of cervical cancer<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> is <\/span><b>caused by the HPV virus.<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><b>Transmission<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">:<\/span>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The virus that causes HPV infection is transmitted through <\/span><b>skin-to-skin contact.<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Most people get a genital HPV infection through <\/span><b>direct sexual contact,<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> including vaginal, anal, and oral sex.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">About <\/span><b>80% of people<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> \u2013 both men and women \u2013 <\/span><b>will get an HPV infection<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> at <\/span><b>some point in their lives.\u00a0<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><b>Most people<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> with HPV don\u2019t know they\u2019re infected and <\/span><b>never develop symptoms.\u00a0<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The <\/span><b>body most often clears the virus <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">before it causes any health problems.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">But <\/span><b>for some<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, the <\/span><b>infection persists<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and can l<\/span><b>ead to precancerous changes.<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><b>Symptoms <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">may include <\/span><b>warts on the genitals or anus<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> or <\/span><b>cancerous growths<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> in the <\/span><b>mouth or throat.\u00a0<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>Treatment<\/strong>:\u00a0<\/span>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">There\u2019s <\/span><b>no cure<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> for HPV.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><b>HPV vaccination <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">is the most effective way to prevent HPV-related cancers.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2><b>HPV Vaccination<\/b><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The HPV vaccine is a <\/span><b>series of shots<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> that can protect you from an HPV infection.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It prevents HPV infections that can progress to cancer or genital warts.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The HPV vaccination is <\/span><b>more efficacious if given between<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> the age group of <\/span><b>9-26 years.<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><b>Once a person gets HPV,<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> the <\/span><b>vaccine may not be as effective.<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The HPV vaccine
