{"id":21339,"date":"2024-03-08T12:18:44","date_gmt":"2024-03-08T06:48:44","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/?p=21339"},"modified":"2025-04-06T11:34:12","modified_gmt":"2025-04-06T06:04:12","slug":"national-cooperative-database-ncd","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/national-cooperative-database-ncd\/","title":{"rendered":"What is the National Cooperative Database (NCD)?"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2>About National Cooperative Database (NCD)<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>It is an initiative of the\u00a0Ministry of Cooperation.\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>Under this initiative, the Ministry of Cooperation has recognized the imperative need for a robust database to capture vital\u00a0information about India&#8217;s vast cooperative sector.<\/li>\n<li>NCD has been\u00a0developed in collaboration with state governments, National Federations and\u00a0stakeholders, and aims to foster a\u00a0cooperative-centric economic model.<\/li>\n<li>It is\u00a0a web-based digital dashboard wherein\u00a0data of cooperative societies,\u00a0including\u00a0National\/State Federations have been captured.<\/li>\n<li>The data of cooperative societies has been\u00a0entered and validated by States\/ UTs nodal officials\u00a0at RCS\/ DRCS offices, and the data of federations has been provided by various national\/state federations.<\/li>\n<li>NCD has collected\/mapped\u00a0information about 8 lakh cooperatives with collective membership of more than 29 crores spread\u00a0across\u00a0various sectors\u00a0in the country.\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>The\u00a0information collected from cooperative societies are\u00a0on various parameters, such as their\u00a0registered name, date, location, number of members,\u00a0sectoral information,\u00a0area of operation,\u00a0economic activities,\u00a0financial statements,\u00a0status of audit etc.\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>NCD serves as a crucial tool for\u00a0efficient communication between the\u00a0Central Ministry,\u00a0States\/UTs, and Cooperative Societies, benefiting all stakeholders in the cooperative sector.\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>The database\u00a0provides comprehensive contact details for registered societies, facilitating smooth communication between government entities and these societies.<\/li>\n<li>NCD offers a myriad of\u00a0benefits, including:\n<ul>\n<li>o Single-point access<\/li>\n<li>o comprehensive and\u00a0updated data<\/li>\n<li>o user-friendly interface<\/li>\n<li>o vertical and horizontal linkages<\/li>\n<li>o query-based reports and graphs<\/li>\n<li>o Management Information System (MIS) reports<\/li>\n<li>o data analytics<\/li>\n<li>o Geographical Mapping.\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<hr \/>\n<h3>Q1) What are cooperative societies?<\/h3>\n<p>Cooperatives are voluntary associations that are jointly owned and democratically controlled enterprises, addressing shared economic, social, and cultural needs. These societies work on the principle of self-help as well as mutual help. The primary goal is to provide support to the members.
