{"id":21483,"date":"2024-03-13T10:06:33","date_gmt":"2024-03-13T04:36:33","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/?p=21483"},"modified":"2025-04-06T12:32:57","modified_gmt":"2025-04-06T07:02:57","slug":"gorsam-kora-festival","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/gorsam-kora-festival\/","title":{"rendered":"Gorsam Kora Festival"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2>About Gorsam Kora Festival<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>It is held\u00a0in Arunachal Pradesh\u2019s\u00a0Zeminthang Valley along the\u00a0Nyanmjang Chu River.<\/li>\n<li>History\n<ul>\n<li>This annual festival is held at Gorsam Chorten, a 93 feet tall Stupa, built during 13th century AD by a\u00a0local monk- Lama Pradhar.<\/li>\n<li>This is also the place where the 14th Dalai Lama had his first rest after fleeing from Tibet in 1959.<\/li>\n<li>It features cultural performances and\u00a0Buddhist rituals at the Gorsam Chorten, which is older than the Tawang Monastery.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Many devotees including a large number of Bhutanese nationals visit during Gorsam Kora festival to celebrate the virtuous occasion during the last day of the first month of the\u00a0Lunar calendar.<\/li>\n<li>It attracted pilgrims and Lamas from Bhutan, Tawang, and neighbouring regions, epitomising the spirit of camaraderie and cultural exchange.<\/li>\n<li>The festival featured a diverse array of events, including enthralling performances by local cultural troupes and by the Indian army bands, martial performances like\u00a0Mallakhamb and Zanjh Pathaka.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<hr \/>\n<h3>Q1) What is Mahayana Buddhism?<\/h3>\n<p>Mahayana Buddhism is the largest Buddhist sect in the world, and its beliefs and practices are what most non-adherents recognize as &#8220;Buddhism&#8221; in the modern era.
