{"id":21534,"date":"2024-03-15T01:37:14","date_gmt":"2024-03-14T20:07:14","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/?p=21534"},"modified":"2025-04-06T12:53:38","modified_gmt":"2025-04-06T07:23:38","slug":"indo-pacific-economic-framework-for-prosperity","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/indo-pacific-economic-framework-for-prosperity\/","title":{"rendered":"Indo-Pacific Economic Framework for Prosperity"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2>About Indo-Pacific Economic Framework for Prosperity<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>It is a\u00a0regional arrangement to build cooperation and economic integration in the\u00a0Indo-Pacific region.<\/li>\n<li>It was launched in May 2022.<\/li>\n<li>This framework is intended to advance resilience, sustainability, inclusiveness, economic growth, fairness, and competitiveness for member economies.\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>IPEF will seek to complement and build on existing regional architecture and support the global rules-based trading system.<\/li>\n<li>Member countries: It has\u00a014 regional partners \u2013 Australia, Brunei, Fiji, India, Indonesia, Japan, the Republic of Korea, Malaysia, New Zealand, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, the United States, and Vietnam.<\/li>\n<li>The economic framework broadly\u00a0rests on four pillars: Trade, Supply chain resilience, Clean Energy, Decarbonization, and Infrastructure Taxes and anti-corruption measures<\/li>\n<li>The IPEF is\u00a0not a Free Trade Agreement (FTA), but it allows members to negotiate the parts they want to.<\/li>\n<li>India and IPEF:\n<ul>\n<li>India has been actively participating in the IPEF, but not in all pillars.<\/li>\n<li>India has decided to opt out of the trade pillar of the IPEF as most issues promoted by the IPEF do not align with India&#8217;s trade policies.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<hr \/>\n<h3>Q1) What is decarbonisation?<\/h3>\n<p>Decarbonisation is the term used for removal or reduction of carbon dioxide (CO2) output into the atmosphere.
