{"id":21623,"date":"2026-07-10T12:23:33","date_gmt":"2026-07-10T06:53:33","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/?p=21623"},"modified":"2026-07-10T12:46:30","modified_gmt":"2026-07-10T07:16:30","slug":"ullas-initiative","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/ullas-initiative\/","title":{"rendered":"ULLAS Programme"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2><b>ULLAS Programme Latest News<\/b><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Recently, Uttarakhand has become the country&#8217;s sixth fully literate state under the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 and the &#8216;ULLAS&#8217; (Understanding Lifelong Learning for All in Society) programme.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b>About ULLAS Programme<\/b><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It is a <\/span><b>centrally sponsored initiative<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> that aligns with the <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/upsc-exam\/national-education-policy-2020\/\" target=\"_blank\">National Education Policy (NEP) <\/a><a href=\"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/upsc-exam\/national-education-policy-2020\/\" target=\"_blank\">2020<\/a>.<\/strong><\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It aims to <\/span><b>empower adults aged 15<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and above from all backgrounds <\/span><b>who missed formal schooling.<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Focus:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> The programme focuses on <\/span><b>imparting functional literacy<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> including reading, writing, and numeracy skills, and enriches learners with critical life skills, fostering lifelong learning.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It is <\/span><b>implemented through volunteerism<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and promotes social responsibility.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It encourages learners to access educational content in regional languages via the DIKSHA <\/span><b>Portal and the ULLAS mobile app.<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Implementation Period:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> 2022-2027.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Target:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> The target is to provide <\/span><b>Foundational Literacy and Numeracy<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> to 5 (five) crore learners, with 1 crore learners per year by using <\/span><b>\u201cOnline Teaching, Learning and Assessment System (OTLAS)\u201d.\u00a0<\/b><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2><b>Components of ULLAS<\/b><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Foundational Literacy and Numeracy,<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Critical Life Skills<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (financial literacy, digital literacy, legal literacy, healthcare and awareness, childcare and education, family welfare, etc.),<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Basic Education<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> for providing appropriate equivalence<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Vocational Skills<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (Skill development will be a part of the continuous learning process for neo-literates to obtain local employment),<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Continuing Education <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">(This includes engaging holistic adult education courses in arts, sciences, technology, culture, sports, and recreation, as well as other topics of interest or use to local learners)<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b>Source: <\/b><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.livemint.com\/news\/india\/uttarakhand-becomes-countrys-sixth-fully-literate-state-collective-efforts-towards-viksit-bharat-says-cm-dhami-11783563363448.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">LM<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>ULLAS Programme is a centrally sponsored initiative that aligns with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020.
