{"id":21679,"date":"2024-03-19T06:15:48","date_gmt":"2024-03-19T00:45:48","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/?p=21679"},"modified":"2025-04-06T13:52:13","modified_gmt":"2025-04-06T08:22:13","slug":"bugun-liocichla","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/bugun-liocichla\/","title":{"rendered":"Bugun Liocichla"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2>About Bugun Liocichla<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>It is a\u00a0small babbler (only 20 cm) with olive-grey plumage and black cap.<\/li>\n<li>It has become an attraction of birdwatchers since it was discovered as a new bird species in 2006.<\/li>\n<li>It is found only in the\u00a0Eaglenest Wildlife Sanctuary landscape and nowhere else in the world.<\/li>\n<li>The avian\u00a0species is critically endangered with only 14 individual birds spotted so far in the Braiduah village under the Singchung sub-division.<\/li>\n<li>As a major step towards conservation, the Arunachal Pradesh government finally notified Braiduah Community Reserve under the Wildlife Protection Act, 1972.<\/li>\n<li>The reserve is situated adjacent to the Eaglenest Wildlife Sanctuary.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>Key facts about Bugun Tribe<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>The Buguns migrated from Tibet via East Kameng,\u00a0Arunachal Pradesh.<\/li>\n<li>They have their own geographical boundaries with neighbouring tribes and have a distinct\u00a0language called Khowa.<\/li>\n<li>In ancient times the Bugun\/Khowa tribe was known as \u201cShisung-Rubai.\u201d<\/li>\n<li>The landscape of mountains and forests, rhododendrons, orchids, and the rich biodiversity are vital and sacred natural wealth that the Buguns are proud of daily lifestyles are integrally linked to their natural environment.<\/li>\n<li>Like other Indo-Mongoloid tribes of Arunachal Pradesh, Buguns (Khowas) too build their houses with bamboo.<\/li>\n<li>Their traditional\u00a0houses are made of bamboo and wood with a stone base.<\/li>\n<li>They are known to be very hard working farmers and are skilled at extracting oil from a\u00a0local wood species found in the forests called\u00a0Chiblem.<\/li>\n<li>They have their own socio political administrative decision making body called the\u00a0Nimiang that fluidly regulates the functioning of the community.<\/li>\n<li>The\u00a0\u201cPham-Kho\u201d is the annual festival of Bugun.<\/li>\n<li>Buguns are\u00a0generally endogamous as they marry within their community.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<hr \/>\n<h3>Q1) Where is Eaglenest Wildlife Sanctuary?<\/h3>\n<p>It is a protected area of India in the Himalayan foothills of West Kameng District, Arunachal Pradesh. It conjoins Sessa Orchid Sanctuary to the northeast and Pakhui Tiger Reserve across the Kameng river to the east.
