{"id":21695,"date":"2024-03-20T06:51:26","date_gmt":"2024-03-20T01:21:26","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/?p=21695"},"modified":"2025-04-06T13:58:52","modified_gmt":"2025-04-06T08:28:52","slug":"central-plantation-crops-research-institute-cpcri","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/central-plantation-crops-research-institute-cpcri\/","title":{"rendered":"Central Plantation Crops Research Institute (CPCRI)"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2><strong>About Central Plantation Crops Research Institute (CPCRI)<\/strong><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>It was <strong>established by the Government of Madras in 1916 for coconut research<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>Later, it was acquired by the Indian Central Coconut Committee in 1947.<\/li>\n<li>The CPCRI was <strong>established in 1970 as<\/strong> one of the <strong>agricultural research institutes<\/strong> in the National Agricultural Research System (NARS) <strong>under the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR).<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Headquarters: Kasaragod, Kerala<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h4><strong>Mandate<\/strong>:<\/h4>\n<ul>\n<li>The institute had the mandate to <strong>undertake research on coconut, arecanut, cocoa,<\/strong> cashew, oil palm, and spices at the time of establishment.\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>The research on <strong>cashew, oil palm, and spices was <\/strong>later <strong>delinked from CPCRI<\/strong> to form separate institutes.<\/li>\n<li><strong>In 2023, a new mandate crop, Palmyra Palm, was added<\/strong> to its institute.<\/li>\n<li>The research programmes of the institute are organized under five divisions viz.
