


{"id":21731,"date":"2024-03-21T06:19:12","date_gmt":"2024-03-21T00:49:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/?p=21731"},"modified":"2025-04-06T14:13:36","modified_gmt":"2025-04-06T08:43:36","slug":"world-happiness-report-2024","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/world-happiness-report-2024\/","title":{"rendered":"World Happiness Report 2024"},"content":{"rendered":"<h3>Overview:<\/h3>\n<h4>Finland has once again claimed the title of the world&#8217;s happiest country for the seventh consecutive year, according to the annual UN-sponsored World Happiness Report released recently.<\/h4>\n<h2>About World Happiness Report<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>The\u00a0annual World Happiness Report is a\u00a0partnership of Gallup, the\u00a0Oxford Wellbeing Research Centre, the\u00a0UN Sustainable Development Solutions Network (SDSN), and the\u00a0World Happiness Report&#8217;s Editorial Board.<\/li>\n<li>It is based on\u00a0global survey data from people based on\u00a0people&#8217;s own assessments of their happiness, as well as economic and social data.<\/li>\n<li>The report considers\u00a0six key factors:\u00a0social support, income, health, freedom,\u00a0generosity, and the\u00a0absence of corruption.<\/li>\n<li>It assigns a happiness score\u00a0based on an average of data over a three-year period.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Highlights of World Happiness Report 2024\n<ul>\n<li>The Nordic nations continue to\u00a0dominate the top rankings.\u00a0Finland topped the list for the seventh year in a row.<\/li>\n<li>The other top 10 countries are Denmark, Iceland, Sweden, Israel, Netherlands, Norway, Luxembourg, Switzerland, and Australia.<\/li>\n<li>Out of the 143 countries surveyed,\u00a0Afghanistan remained at the bottom of the list.<\/li>\n<li>For the first time in over a decade, the United States and Germany have slipped out of the top 20 happiest nations, landing at 23rd and 24th place, respectively.\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>The report underscores a change wherein the\u00a0happiest countries no longer include any of the world&#8217;s most populous nations. Only the Netherlands and Australia, both with populations exceeding 15 million, are present in the top 10.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Where does India stand?\n<ul>\n<li>India is\u00a0ranked 126th on the list, the\u00a0same as last year, in the happiness index.<\/li>\n<li>Older age is\u00a0associated with higher life satisfaction in India.<\/li>\n<li>The report said that\u00a0older Indian men, particularly those\u00a0in higher age brackets, presently\u00a0married,\u00a0and\u00a0those with an education, tend to report greater life satisfaction\u00a0compared to their counterparts.<\/li>\n<li>However,\u00a0older women in India\u00a0report lower life satisfaction than older\u00a0men.<\/li>\n<li>Satisfaction with living arrangements, perceived discrimination, and self-rated health emerged as the top three predictors of life satisfaction.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<hr \/>\n<h3>Q1) What is the United Nations Sustainable Development Solutions Network (SDSN)?<\/h3>\n<p>It was launched in 2012 under the auspices of the UN Secretary-General. SDSN mobilizes global scientific and technological expertise to promote practical solutions for sustainable development, including the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and the Paris Climate Agreement.
