


{"id":21775,"date":"2025-12-04T11:02:01","date_gmt":"2025-12-04T05:32:01","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/?p=21775"},"modified":"2025-12-04T13:50:27","modified_gmt":"2025-12-04T08:20:27","slug":"ebola","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/ebola\/","title":{"rendered":"Ebola"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2><b>Ebola Latest News<\/b><\/h2>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">An Ebola outbreak in the Democratic Republic of Congo is now over, Congolese health officials and the U.N.&#8217;s World Health Organization said recently, after the country went 42 consecutive days without recording a new case.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b>About Ebola<\/b><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It is a <\/span><b>severe <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">and <\/span><b>often deadly disease<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> caused by a <\/span><b>group of viruses<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> known as <\/span><b>orthoebolaviruses<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (formally ebolavirus).<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Orthoebolaviruses were <\/span><b>discovered in 1976 in the Democratic Republic of the Congo<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and are found primarily in s<\/span><b>ub-Saharan Africa.<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It is known as a <\/span><b>hemorrhagic fever virus<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> because it can c<\/span><b>ause problems with the clotting system <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">of the body and <\/span><b>lead to internal bleeding<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> as blood leaks from small blood vessels.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><b>Six different species <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">of the virus have been found, but <\/span><b>only four<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> are k<\/span><b>nown to cause disease in humans.<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It g<\/span><b>ets its name from the Ebola River<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, which is near one of the villages in the<\/span><b> Democratic Republic of Congo <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">where the <\/span><b>disease first appeared.<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Ebola <\/span><b>can occur in humans and other primates <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">(gorillas, monkeys, and chimpanzees).<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><b>Transmission:<\/b>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The virus is <\/span><b>transmitted to people from wild animals<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (such as fruit bats, porcupines, and non-human primates) and <\/span><b>then spreads in the human population through direct contact with the blood, secretions<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, organs, or other bodily fluids of infected people and with <\/span><b>surfaces and materials <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">(e.g., bedding, clothing) <\/span><b>contaminated with these fluids.<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Ebola c<\/span><b>annot be transmitted by air.\u00a0<\/b><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><b>Symptoms<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">:<\/span>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It includes f<\/span><b>ever, diarrhea, vomiting, <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">bleeding, and often, death.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The <\/span><b>average <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Ebola disease case <\/span><b>fatality rate<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> is around <\/span><b>50%. <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Case fatality rates have varied from 25\u201390% in past outbreaks.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><b>Treatment<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">:<\/span>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">There is <\/span><b>no known cure<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> for Ebola.
