


{"id":21841,"date":"2024-03-24T01:42:47","date_gmt":"2024-03-23T20:12:47","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/?p=21841"},"modified":"2025-04-06T15:42:12","modified_gmt":"2025-04-06T10:12:12","slug":"vote-from-home","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/vote-from-home\/","title":{"rendered":"Vote-from-Home"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2>About Vote-from-Home<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>Who is eligible?\n<ul>\n<li>People aged 85 and above<\/li>\n<li>Persons with Disabilities: The disability shall\u00a0not be less than 40% of the prescribed handicap and certified by the certifying authority.<\/li>\n<li>Mediapersons covering \u2018polling day activities\u2019: Carrying authorisation letters from the Election Commission<\/li>\n<li>Workers from essential services: Services such as metros, railways and health care<\/li>\n<li>Service voters: Personnel of the armed forces\u00a0posted away from their hometowns,\u00a0Central Armed Police Forces personnel deployed away from home and those on poll duty.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>How to avail the vote-from-home facility?<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>Key to the\u00a0process is Form 12D, which is a letter informing the\u00a0Assistant Returning Officer (ARO) that the person may not be in a position to go to the polling station to vote.<\/li>\n<li>The form can be downloaded online from the ECI website or collected from the office of the representative district officer of a parliamentary constituency.\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>The form has to be filled and\u00a0submitted within five days of notification of the polling date.<\/li>\n<li>Once filed, two polling officials, accompanied by a videographer and a security person, will visit the elector\u2019s home and oversee the postal ballot voting process.<\/li>\n<li>The voter will receive an intimation about the date and approximate time of visit via SMS or through post. The home voting option\u00a0will be attempted twice.<\/li>\n<li>The polling team will schedule a second visit if the elector fails to be at the given address during the first visit.<\/li>\n<li>If the voter is absent on the second visit, \u201ca further visit will not be entertained.\u201d The voter will subsequently be\u00a0ineligible to vote both at polling booths and through the home voting scheme.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<hr \/>\n<h3>Q1) What is the Central Armed Police Force (CAPF)?<\/h3>\n<p>Central Armed Police Forces is the collective name of central police organizations in India under the authority of Ministry of Home Affairs.These are technically paramilitary forces formerly known as \u201cCentral Para-Military Forces (CPMF)\u201d.
