{"id":21983,"date":"2024-03-30T01:45:57","date_gmt":"2024-03-29T20:15:57","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/?p=21983"},"modified":"2025-04-06T16:39:26","modified_gmt":"2025-04-06T11:09:26","slug":"cnemaspis-vangoghi","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/cnemaspis-vangoghi\/","title":{"rendered":"What is Cnemaspis Vangoghi?"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2>About Cnemaspis Vangoghi<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>It is a\u00a0new species of lizard discovered from the\u00a0Southern Western Ghats in\u00a0Tamil Nadu.<\/li>\n<li>Cnemaspis vangoghi is\u00a0named for Dutch painter Vincent Van Gogh (1853\u20131890), as the\u00a0striking colouration of the new species is\u00a0reminiscent of\u00a0one of his most iconic paintings, The Starry Night.<\/li>\n<li>It is described as a\u00a0small-sized gecko, reaching up to 3.4 cm in length.<\/li>\n<li>It has a distinctive\u00a0yellow head and forebody, adorned with\u00a0light blue spots on the back.<\/li>\n<li>This lizard\u00a0prefers living among\u00a0rocks and can occasionally be found on buildings and trees.<\/li>\n<li>Alongside Cnemaspis vangoghi,\u00a0another species named Cnemaspis sathuragiriensis was\u00a0identified,\u00a0named\u00a0after its type locality, the\u00a0Sathuragiri Hills.<\/li>\n<li>Both species inhabit low-elevation,\u00a0deciduous forests within the Srivilliputhur-Megamalai Tiger Reserve, adding to the five previously known endemic vertebrates of the region.<\/li>\n<li>These\u00a0diurnal creatures are mainly active during the cooler hours of early morning and evening, predominantly found on rocks.<\/li>\n<li>Their\u00a0restricted localities present an intriguing\u00a0case of micro-endemism in low-elevation species.<\/li>\n<li>Micro-endemism\u00a0refers to a phenomenon in ecology and biogeography\u00a0where a species or a group of species are\u00a0restricted to a very small geographic area, often on the scale of a few square kilometers or even less.\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<hr \/>\n<h3>Q1) What are Deciduous Forests?<\/h3>\n<p>A deciduous forest is a biome dominated by deciduous trees which lose their leaves seasonally.
