The erstwhile Marine Products Export Promotion Council established by the Government of India in September, 1961 was converged into MPEDA on 24th August, 1972.<\/span><\/li>\n<li aria-level=\"1\"><b>Functions<\/b>\n<ul>\n<li><b>Developing and regulating off-shore and deep-sea fishing<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and undertaking measures for the conservation and management of off-shore and deep-sea fisheries;<\/span><\/li>\n<li><b>Registering fishing vessels,<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> processing plants or storage premises for marine products and conveyances used for the transport of marine products; fixing of standards and specifications for marine products for purposes of export;<\/span><\/li>\n<li><b>Regulating the export of marine products<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">; registering of exporters of marine products on payment of such fees as may be prescribed;<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It has set up five full-<\/span><b>fledged Quality Control Laboratories<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, at Kochi, Nellore &amp; Bhimavaram, Bhubaneshwar and Porbandar.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In order to reach out to the exporters in different parts of the Country, it has set up 18 \u2013 Regional \/ Sub Regional Divisions \/ Desk offices.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Headquarter:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> Kochi, Kerala<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It has Trade Promotion offices at <\/span><b>New Delhi, Tokyo and New York.<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Nodal Ministry:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> Ministry of Commerce and Industry<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b>Source:<\/b> <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.pib.gov.in\/PressReleasePage.aspx?PRID=2280209&amp;reg=48&amp;lang=1\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">PIB<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Marine Products Export Development Authority is a statutory body entrusted with the primary task of promotion of export of marine products.
