{"id":22148,"date":"2025-09-02T09:19:35","date_gmt":"2025-09-02T03:49:35","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/?p=22148"},"modified":"2025-09-02T13:27:46","modified_gmt":"2025-09-02T07:57:46","slug":"pratush-telescope","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/pratush-telescope\/","title":{"rendered":"PRATUSH Telescope"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2><b>PRATUSH Telescope Latest News<\/b><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Scientists at the Raman Research Institute have proposed a pioneering mission called PRATUSH designed to unlock the Cosmic Dawn.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b>About PRATUSH Telescope<\/b><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Probing ReionizATion of the Universe using Signal from Hydrogen<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (<\/span><b>PRATUSH) <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">is a radio telescope to be sited on the moon\u2019s far side.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It is built by <\/span><b>the <a href=\"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/raman-research-institute-rri\/#:~:text=The%20institute%20was%20founded%20in,of%20the%20Government%20of%20India.\" target=\"_blank\">Raman Research Institute<\/a><\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (RRI) in Bengaluru with active collaboration from the <\/span><b>Indian Space Research Organisation <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">(ISRO).<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">PRATUSH will carry a wideband <\/span><b>frequency-independent antenna,<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> operating over the frequency band <\/span><b>30-250 MHz,<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> a self-calibratable <\/span><b>analog receiver<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, and a <\/span><b>digital correlator<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> with high spectral resolution.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The observing strategy of PRATUSH will be to <\/span><b>continually observe large sky regions<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, and recording spectra of the beam-averaged radio emission with a high spectral resolution of 100 kHz.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The nominal lifetime of the <\/span><b>payload will be two years<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> for achieving high signal-to-noise ratio with sufficient sky-coverage.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The <\/span><b>preferred orbit for the payload<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> will be a circumlunar orbit to enable a measurement of radio sky spectrum from the <\/span><b>dark and far side of the Moon.<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">At the heart of PRATUSH\u2019s innovative design lies an unexpectedly modest piece of technology: a <\/span><b>compact single-board computer<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (SBC).
