is the Strategic Forces Command (SFC)?"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2>About Strategic Forces Command (SFC):<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>The SFC, sometimes called <strong>Strategic Nuclear Command<\/strong>, <strong>forms part of India&#8217;s Nuclear Command Authority <\/strong>(NCA), which is responsible for command-and-control decisions regarding India\u2019s nuclear weapons programme.<\/li>\n<li>SFC is responsible for the <strong>management and administration of<\/strong> the country&#8217;s tactical and strategic <strong>nuclear weapons stockpile.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>It was created on <strong>January 4, 2003.<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Responsibility of SFC:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>It is the responsibility of the SFC to <strong>operationalize the orders of the NCA<\/strong> under the leadership of a Commander-in-Chief who is a Senior Officer.<\/li>\n<li>It has the sole responsibility of <strong>initiating the<\/strong> process of <strong>delivering nuclear weapons <\/strong>and warheads <strong>after acquiring<\/strong> clear <strong>approval from the NCA.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>Moreover, the <strong>final target selection<\/strong> is also <strong>done by the SFC<\/strong> through a calibrated, cumulative process involving various levels of decision-making, including <strong>formal approval from the NCA.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>The SFC <strong>manages and administers all strategic forces<\/strong> by exercising complete command and control over nuclear assets, and <strong>producing all contingency plans<\/strong> as needed to fulfill the required tasks.\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>Since its inception, the SFC\u2019s command, control, and communication systems have been firmly established, and the command has attained a high state of operational readiness.<\/li>\n<li>It <strong>consists of officers<\/strong> and personnel <strong>of the Indian Army, Indian Air Force<\/strong> (IAF), and <strong>Indian Navy<\/strong> who are deputed from their respective services.<\/li>\n<li>The Commander-in-Chief, a 3-star General, is appointed on a rotational basis from the three services.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>Key Facts about India\u2019s Nuclear Command Authority (NCA):<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>It is the authority responsible for <strong>command, control, and operational decisions<\/strong> regarding <a href=\"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/upsc-exam\/indias-nuclear-policy-and-nuclear-programmes\/\" target=\"_blank\">India&#8217;s nuclear weapons <\/a>programme.<\/li>\n<li>It comprises a <strong>Political Council and an Executive Council<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>The <strong>Political Council<\/strong> is <strong>chaired by <\/strong>the<strong> Prime Minister<\/strong>.\n<ul>\n<li>It is the <strong>sole body<\/strong> which can <strong>authorize the use of nuclear weapons.<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>The <strong>Executive Counci<\/strong>l is <strong>chaired by the National Security Advisor<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>It <strong>provides inputfor<\/strong> decision-making by the <a href=\"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/national-security-strategy\/\"
