{"id":22208,"date":"2024-04-06T06:17:05","date_gmt":"2024-04-06T00:47:05","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/?p=22208"},"modified":"2025-10-11T14:44:51","modified_gmt":"2025-10-11T09:14:51","slug":"rbi-retail-direct-scheme","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/rbi-retail-direct-scheme\/","title":{"rendered":"RBI Retail Direct scheme"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2>About RBI Retail Direct Scheme:<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>It was initially introduced in November 2021.<\/li>\n<li>It gives access to <strong>individual investors<\/strong> to maintain gilt accounts with the RBI and invest in <strong>government securities.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>The scheme enables investors to <strong>buy securities in primary auctions<\/strong> as well as buy\/sell securities through the <strong>NDS-OM platform.<\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Negotiated Dealing System &#8211; Order Matching system (NDS-OM)<\/strong> means RBI\u2019s screen based anonymous electronic order matching system for trading in Government securities in the secondary market.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>It is provides the following facilities to retail investors in government securities market through an online portal:\n<ul>\n<li>Open and maintain a \u2018Retail Direct Gilt Account\u2019,<\/li>\n<li>Access to primary <strong>issuance of government securities<\/strong>,<\/li>\n<li>Access to NDS-OM.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><strong>Eligibility: <\/strong>Retail investors can register under the scheme and maintain an RDG account, if they have the following:\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Rupee savings bank account<\/strong> maintained in India,<\/li>\n<li>PAN, any officially valid document for KYC purpose,<\/li>\n<li>Valid email-ID and registered mobile number.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Payments for transactions can be done conveniently using saving bank account through internet-banking or <a href=\"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/upi\/\" target=\"_blank\">Unified Payments Interface<\/a> (UPI).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Investor services include provisions for transaction and balance statements, nomination facility, pledge or lien of securities and gift transactions. <strong>No fees<\/strong> will be charged for facilities provided under the scheme.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h3>Q1: What are G-Secs?<\/h3>\n<p>Government Security is a tradable instrument issued by the Central government or the state governments. It acknowledges the government&#8217;s debt obligation.
