


{"id":22224,"date":"2024-04-07T11:49:22","date_gmt":"2024-04-07T06:19:22","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/?p=22224"},"modified":"2025-04-06T18:15:49","modified_gmt":"2025-04-06T12:45:49","slug":"agnibaan-sorted","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/agnibaan-sorted\/","title":{"rendered":"What is Agnibaan SOrTeD?"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2><strong>About Agnibaan SOrTeD<\/strong><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Agnibaan SubOrbital Technological Demonstrator<\/strong> (SOrTeD) is <strong>a single-stage launch vehicle <\/strong>powered by <strong>AgniKul\u2019s<\/strong> patented <strong>Agnilet engine.<\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li>It is an <strong>entirely 3D-printed<\/strong>, single-piece, 6 kilonewton (kN) <strong>semi-cryogenic engine.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>It is the <strong>world\u2019s first single piece 3D printedsemi-cryogenic rocket engine.<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>It will be <strong>launched from India&#8217;s first private launchpad<\/strong>, <strong>ALP-01,located<\/strong> inside the Indian space agency <strong>ISRO\u2019s Sriharikota spaceport.\u00a0<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2><strong>Features<\/strong><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>It is <strong>India\u2019s first <\/strong>ever <strong>vehicle equipped with<\/strong> a <strong>semicryogenic engine<\/strong>, the Agnilet, a subcooled <strong>liquidoxygen-based propulsion system<\/strong> developed indigenously.<\/li>\n<li>The rocket engine will <strong>burn kerosene in liquid oxygen<\/strong> and can be directly used in the rocket.<\/li>\n<li>It stands 18 meters tall and is 1.3 meters in diameter.<\/li>\n<li>It has the capability to carry a <strong>100-kg payload<\/strong> up to a height of 700 km with a lift of mass of 14,000 Kgs.\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>It can <strong>access both low- and high-inclination orbits<\/strong> and is completely mobile.<\/li>\n<li>It will also have the <strong>first ever Ethernet-based avionics architecture<\/strong> and fully in-house developed autopilot software from India.<\/li>\n<li>The rocket is also <strong>designed for launch from<\/strong> more than <strong>10 different launch ports.\u00a0<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>To ensure its compatibility with multiple launch ports, AgniKul has built a <strong>launch pedestal named &#8216;Dhanush&#8217;<\/strong> that <strong>will support<\/strong> the rocket&#8217;s <strong>mobility across all its configurations.<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2><strong>Points to Remember<\/strong><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>AgniKul Cosmos is an <strong>IIT Madras incubated space<\/strong> start up based in <strong>Chennai<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>It was established in 2017.<\/li>\n<li>It became the <strong>first company<\/strong> in the country to <strong>sign an agreement with ISROunder<\/strong> the <strong>IN-SPACe initiative<\/strong> to have access to the space agency\u2019s expertise and its facilities to build Agnibaan in December 2020.<\/li>\n<li>In 2022, Agnikul <strong>inaugurated India\u2019s first private launchpad<\/strong> and mission control centre at <strong>Satish Dhawan Space Centre.<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<hr \/>\n<h3><strong>Q1<\/strong>: What is the Indian National Space Promotion and Authorisation Centre (IN-SPACe)?<\/h3>\n<p>It is a single-window, independent, nodal agency that functions as an autonomous agency in the Department of Space (DOS).
