{"id":22473,"date":"2024-04-14T05:51:43","date_gmt":"2024-04-14T00:21:43","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/?p=22473"},"modified":"2025-04-06T19:56:07","modified_gmt":"2025-04-06T14:26:07","slug":"khavda-renewable-energy-park","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/khavda-renewable-energy-park\/","title":{"rendered":"Khavda Renewable Energy Park"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2><strong>About Khavda Renewable Energy Park<\/strong><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>It is the <strong>world\u2019s largest renewable energy park<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>It is located at <strong>Khavda<\/strong> in <strong>Gujarat&#8217;s Kutch <\/strong>region, boasting an impressive <strong>45 GW capacity predominantly<\/strong> fueled <strong>by solar energ<\/strong>y.<\/li>\n<li>The region has the <strong>second-best solar radiation<\/strong> in the country <strong>after Ladakh<\/strong> and <strong>wind speeds five times that of the plains.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>Situated just <strong>one kilometer from<\/strong> the international border with <strong>Pakistan<\/strong>, the energy park <strong>maintains a buffer zonemanned by the <\/strong>Border Security Force (<strong>BSF<\/strong>).<\/li>\n<li>Originally accessed only by a modest airstrip without air traffic control, the site now gears up for a significant clean energy venture.\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>It spans 538 square kilometres, approximately <strong>five times the size of Paris.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>It is being <strong>built by Adani Green Energy Ltd<\/strong> (AGEL), India&#8217;s largest renewable energy company.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Investment<\/strong>: AGEL will invest about Rs <strong>1.5 lakh crore<\/strong> to generate <strong>30 megawatts of clean electricity<\/strong>. It would comprise <strong>26 GW of solar<\/strong> and <strong>4GW of wind capacity<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>The Khavda Park, <strong>at its peak<\/strong>, is projected to <strong>generate 81 billion units of electricity,<\/strong> a quantity <strong>capable of powering entire nations<\/strong> such as Belgium, Chile, and Switzerland.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<hr \/>\n<h3><strong>Q1<\/strong>: What is renewable energy?<\/h3>\n<p>Renewable energy is energy derived from natural sources that are replenished at a higher rate than they are consumed.
