


{"id":22493,"date":"2026-04-11T12:00:28","date_gmt":"2026-04-11T06:30:28","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/?p=22493"},"modified":"2026-04-11T13:43:35","modified_gmt":"2026-04-11T08:13:35","slug":"pace-satellite","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/pace-satellite\/","title":{"rendered":"PACE Satellite"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2><b>PACE Satellite Latest News<\/b><\/h2>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Researchers recently found that NASA\u2019s PACE satellite can now detect nitrogen dioxide pollution at a fine enough scale to isolate emissions from individual factories and highway corridors. <\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b>About PACE Satellite<\/b><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400; text-align: justify;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The <\/span><b>Plankton, Aerosol, Cloud, and ocean Ecosystem (PACE) <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">is a <\/span><b>NASA satellite mission<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> that studies <\/span><b>global ocean biology, aerosols, and clouds.\u00a0<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400; text-align: justify;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It was <\/span><b>launched <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">in February <\/span><b>2024 <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">into a <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/upsc-exam\/types-of-orbits\/\" target=\"_blank\">Sun-synchronous orbit.<\/a><\/strong><\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400; text-align: justify;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It provides the <\/span><b>world\u2019s first and only hyperspectral coverage of the globe every 1-2 days.<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400; text-align: justify;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">PACE&#8217;s <\/span><b>primary instrument<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> is the <\/span><b>Ocean Color Instrument (OCI)<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, a highly advanced <\/span><b>optical spectrometer <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">to <\/span><b>measure the ocean\u2019s colour across a spectrum<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> from ultraviolet to shortwave infrared.<\/span>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"2\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It enables continuous measurement of light at finer wavelength resolution than previous NASA satellite instruments, extending key system<\/span><b> ocean color data records for climate studies.<\/b><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400; text-align: justify;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It also features <\/span><b>two polarimeters<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> \u2013 the <\/span><b>Spectro-polarimeter for Planetary Exploration (SPEXone) <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">and the <\/span><b>Hyper Angular Research Polarimeter (HARP2).<\/b>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"2\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">These are used to <\/span><b>measure how the oscillation of sunlight<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> within a geometric plane &#8211; known as its <\/span><b>polarization &#8211; is changed by passing through clouds, aerosols, and the ocean.<\/b><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400; text-align: justify;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The data from PACE allows researchers to<\/span><b> study microscopic life in the ocean<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and <\/span><b>particles in the air,<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> advancing the understanding of issues including <\/span><b>fisheries health, harmful algal blooms, air pollution,<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and wildfire smoke.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400; text-align: justify;\" aria-level=\"1\">With PACE, scientists also can <b style=\"font-size: inherit;\">investigate how the ocean and atmosphere interact<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> with each other and are affected by a changing climate.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Source: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.earth.com\/news\/nasa-satellite-shows-exactly-where-air-pollution-begins\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">EARTH<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>PACE Satellite is a NASA satellite mission that studies global ocean biology, aerosols, and clouds.
