


{"id":22513,"date":"2025-10-27T10:15:36","date_gmt":"2025-10-27T04:45:36","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/?p=22513"},"modified":"2025-10-28T15:47:37","modified_gmt":"2025-10-28T10:17:37","slug":"jiadhal-river","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/jiadhal-river\/","title":{"rendered":"Key Facts about Jiadhal River"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2>About Jiadhal River<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>It is a <strong>northern tributary<\/strong> of the <strong>Brahmaputra<\/strong> River.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Course<\/strong>:\n<ul>\n<li>It <strong>originates<\/strong> in the <strong>sub-Himalayan mountains of Arunachal Pradesh<\/strong> at an altitude of 1247m.<\/li>\n<li>After passing through a narrow gorge in Arunachal Pradesh, the river <strong>enters the plains of Assam<\/strong> in Dhemaji district, where it <strong>flows in braided channels<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>The river <strong>finally debouches into the Brahmaputra<\/strong> near Selamukh in Lakhimpur district.<\/li>\n<li>But <strong>after the construction of<\/strong> the <strong>embankment over the Kherkutiya Suti<\/strong> of the Brahmaputra, the river <strong>confluences with the Subansiri River.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>The <strong>total length<\/strong> of the river is <strong>187 km.<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Topographically, the <strong>upper partof the basin is hilly<\/strong> (Himalayan range), and the <strong>middle part <\/strong>onwards <strong>is a plain area.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>The total area of the catchment is 1053.20 sq.km., of which 696.80 sq.km., and 356.4 sq.km. come under Assam and Arunachal Pradesh respectively.<\/li>\n<li>The sub<strong>-basin of Jiadhal experiences heavy rainfall<\/strong>.
