{"id":22533,"date":"2024-04-15T04:04:29","date_gmt":"2024-04-14T22:34:29","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/?p=22533"},"modified":"2025-04-06T20:19:54","modified_gmt":"2025-04-06T14:49:54","slug":"special-olympics-bharat","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/special-olympics-bharat\/","title":{"rendered":"Special Olympics Bharat"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2>About Special Olympics Bharat<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>It is a <strong>National Sports Federation<\/strong> registered under the <strong>Indian Trust Act 1882<\/strong> in 2001 and is accredited by <strong>Special Olympics International<\/strong> to conduct Special Olympics Programs in India.<\/li>\n<li>It is recognized by the <strong>Ministry of Youth Affairs &amp; Sports<\/strong>, Government of India as a National Sports Federation in the Priority Category, for development of Sports for Persons with <strong>Intellectual Disabilities.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>It is a designated <strong>Nodal Agency for all disabilities<\/strong> on account of its national presence and experience, especially in rural areas which account for nearly 75 per cent of the disabled population in India.<\/li>\n<li>It is a <strong>social inclusion movement<\/strong> using sports, health, and education and leadership programs to empower people with intellectual disabilities.<\/li>\n<li>It is a program to provide individuals with intellectual disabilities who are eight years of age or older with year-round sports training and athletic competition in more than 20 Olympic-type summer and winter sports.<\/li>\n<li>It was <strong>inaugurated in 1968<\/strong> and was officially recognized by the International Olympic Committee on February 15, 1988.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Headquarters :<\/strong> Washington, D.C.
