


{"id":22601,"date":"2024-04-19T01:34:16","date_gmt":"2024-04-18T20:04:16","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/?p=22601"},"modified":"2025-04-06T20:46:39","modified_gmt":"2025-04-06T15:16:39","slug":"mount-ruang","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/mount-ruang\/","title":{"rendered":"Mount Ruang"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2>About Mount Ruang<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>It is a <strong>stratovolcano<\/strong> located in <strong>Indonesia\u2019s<\/strong> North Sulawesi province.<\/li>\n<li>It is a <strong>725-meter<\/strong> (2,400-foot) volcano.<\/li>\n<li>The summit of Ruang stands 10,932 feet above sea level, with a caldera that is about two miles wide.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>What is a Stratovolcano?<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>It is a <strong>tall<\/strong>, <strong>steep<\/strong>, and <strong>cone-shaped<\/strong> type of volcano.<\/li>\n<li>Unlike flat shield volcanoes, they have<strong> higher peaks<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>They are typically<strong> found above subduction zones<\/strong>, and they are <strong>often part of large volcanically active regions,<\/strong> such as the Ring of Fire that frames much of the Pacific Ocean.<\/li>\n<li>Strato Volcanoes comprise the<strong> largest percentage<\/strong> (~60%) <strong>of<\/strong> the <strong>Earth&#8217;s individual volcanoes<\/strong>, and most are characterized by <strong>eruptions of andesite and dacite<\/strong>, <strong>lavas<\/strong> that are <strong>cooler and more viscous than basalt.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>These <strong>more viscous lavas allow gas pressures to build up <\/strong>to high levels. Therefore, these volcanoes often suffer<strong> explosive eruptions<\/strong>.\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>They are usually about <strong>half-half lava and pyroclastic material<\/strong>, and the layering of these products gives them their other <strong>common name of composite volcanoes<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>At the peak<\/strong>, stratovolcanoes usually <strong>have a small crater<\/strong>. The crater may be filled with water or ice, or it may contain a volcanic dome during a period of relative inactivity.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h3>Q1: What are Pyroclasts?<\/h3>\n<p>Pyroclasts (or &#8220;tephra&#8217;) are any volcanic fragments that were hurled through the air by volcanic activity. A pyroclastic eruption is one in which the great majority of activity involves fountaining or explosions. A pyroclastic deposit is the resulting layer or pile of material that has fallen to the ground by one or many pyroclastic eruptions.
