greetings to personnel of the National Security Guard (NSG) on its Raising Day, lauding their courage, precision, and unwavering commitment to duty. <\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b>About National Security Guard<\/b><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It is <\/span><b>India\u2019s premier counter-terror force<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, specially trained and equipped to <\/span><b>respond to<\/b> <b>serious acts of terrorism <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">and other <\/span><b>exceptional security situations.<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The NSG members are also known as <\/span><b>Black Cats <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">because of the black drill cotton coveralls and balaclavas, or helmets, they wear.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><b>Establishment:\u00a0<\/b>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It was <\/span><b>raised in 1984<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, <\/span><b>following Operation Blue Star<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and the <\/span><b>assassination of Indira Gandhi.<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It was established under the <\/span><b>National Security Guard Act<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> of <\/span><b>1986<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Act places it under the <\/span><b>administrative control of the Union Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA),<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> which exercises operational tasking.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The NSG was modelled <\/span><b>on the pattern of the Special Air Service of the UK<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and <\/span><b>GSG-9 of Germany.\u00a0\u00a0<\/b><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><b>The NSG\u2019s specific goals style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">All the selected DGs have been officers from the <\/span><b>Indian Police Service (IPS).<\/b><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It is designed to be employed as a <\/span><b>specialised counter-terrorism force \u201conly in exceptional situations,\u201d<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> not to take over \u201cfunctions of the State Police Forces or other paramilitary forces.\u201d<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The teams of NSG work on a basic<\/span><b> philosophy of swift and speedy strike and immediate withdrawal<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> from the theatre of action.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">NSG <\/span><b>deployments <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">are <\/span><b>usually not made capability under Army-trained discipline while retaining a police-culture interface for civilian-environment operations.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The force also fields <\/span><b>specialised wings for bomb disposal, electronic countermeasures, <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">and explosive detection and runs the <\/span><b>National Bomb Data Centre (NBDC).\u00a0<\/b>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The N<\/span><b>BDC collects, collates, analyses, <\/b><span
