{"id":22750,"date":"2024-04-23T02:30:50","date_gmt":"2024-04-22T21:00:50","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/?p=22750"},"modified":"2025-10-06T12:19:12","modified_gmt":"2025-10-06T06:49:12","slug":"national-service-scheme","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/national-service-scheme\/","title":{"rendered":"National Service Scheme"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2>About National Service Scheme<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>It was launched during 1969, the birth centenary year of <a href=\"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/upsc-exam\/mahatma-gandhi-movements\/\" target=\"_blank\">Mahatma Gandhi<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li>It is a <a href=\"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/centrally-sponsored-scheme\/\" target=\"_blank\">Central Sector Scheme<\/a> of the Government of India.<\/li>\n<li>It provides an opportunity to the student youth of the 11th &amp; 12th Class of schools at +2 Board level and student youth of Technical Institution, Graduate &amp; Post Graduate at colleges and University level of India to take part in various Government led community service activities &amp; programmes.<\/li>\n<li><strong>The NSS symbol<\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li>It is based on the &#8220;Rath&#8221; wheel of <strong>the Konark Sun Temple<\/strong> situated in Odisha.<\/li>\n<li>The <strong>navy blue colour<\/strong> indicates the <strong>cosmos<\/strong> of which the NSS is a tiny part, ready to contribute its share for the welfare of mankind.<\/li>\n<li>The Red colour in the badge indicates that the NSS volunteers are full of blood i.e. lively, active, energetic and full of high spirit.<\/li>\n<li>The giant wheels of the Sun Temple portray the cycle of creation, preservation and release, and signify the movement in life across time and space.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><strong>Activities undertaken by NSS<\/strong>: National Integration Camp, Shramdaan. Blood donation, Immunisation, Plantation, Disaster Management and Adventure programs etc.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Motto:<\/strong> The motto of National Service Scheme is NOT ME BUT YOU<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Nodal Ministry:<\/strong> Ministry of Youth Affairs &amp; Sports.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h3>Q1) What is Community service?<\/h3>\n<p>It is work done by a person or group of people that benefits others. It is often done near the area where you live, so your own community reaps the benefits of your work.
