{"id":22873,"date":"2024-04-28T06:21:43","date_gmt":"2024-04-28T00:51:43","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/?p=22873"},"modified":"2025-04-06T22:38:07","modified_gmt":"2025-04-06T17:08:07","slug":"what-is-climate-technology-centre-and-network","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/what-is-climate-technology-centre-and-network\/","title":{"rendered":"What is Climate Technology Centre and Network (CTCN)?"},"content":{"rendered":"<h3><strong>About Climate Technology Centre and Network (CTCN)<\/strong><\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>It is the <strong>operational arm of<\/strong> the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change\u2019s (<strong>UNFCCC) <\/strong>Climate Change<strong> Technology Mechanism<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>It is <strong>hosted by UN Environment (UNEP)in collaboration with<\/strong> the <strong>United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO)<\/strong> and with the support of 11 independent organizations having expertise in climate technologies.<\/li>\n<li>It was established to<strong> accelerate the development and transfer of<\/strong> environmentally sound <strong>technologies for<\/strong> low-carbon and <strong>climate resilient development at the request of developing countries.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>The CTCN <strong>provides technology solutions<\/strong>, <strong>capacity building,<\/strong> and <strong>advice on policy<\/strong>, legal, and <strong>regulatory frameworks<\/strong> tailored to the needs of individual countries by <strong>harnessing the expertise of<\/strong> a<strong> global network of technology companies<\/strong> and institutions.<\/li>\n<li>The CTCN is a <strong>demand-driven mechanism<\/strong> as its services are offered upon request by developing countries, and the volume and<strong> specific nature of activities<\/strong> ultimately <strong>depends on countries\u2019 requirements<\/strong> and needs.<\/li>\n<li>The CTCN <strong>consists of two parts<\/strong>: <strong>a centre<\/strong>\u2014a <strong>coordinating entity located<\/strong> in <strong>UN City Copenhagen<\/strong>\u2014<strong>and<\/strong> a <strong>worldwide network of organizations<\/strong> that delivers CTCN services\u2014both virtually and actually.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<hr \/>\n<h3><strong>Q1<\/strong>: What is the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO)?<\/h3>\n<p>UNIDO, is a specialized agency in the United Nations system, headquartered in Vienna, with a unique mandate to promote, dynamize and accelerate industrial development.
