These include the fifteen lanthanides on the periodic table plus scandium and yttrium. REE are all metals, and the group is often referred to as the “rare earth metals. Although called “rare”, they are actually found relatively abundantly in the Earth’s crust. These metals are very difficult to mine because it is unusual to find them in concentrations high enough for economical extraction. These metals have many similar properties, and that often causes them to be found together in geologic deposits. They are also referred to as “rare earth oxides” because many of them are typically sold as oxide compounds.

Source: Mines Ministry to Hold Two-day Critical Minerals Summit from Tomorrow

The Critical Minerals Summit organized by the Ministry of Mines is designed to foster collaboration, share knowledge, and drive innovation in the field of critical mineral beneficiation and processing.

[1

0":"post-22908","1":"post","2":"type-post","3":"status-publish","4":"format-standard","5":"has-post-thumbnail","7":"category-upsc-prelims-current-affairs","8":"no-featured-image-padding
["GET
