{"id":22948,"date":"2024-04-30T05:08:36","date_gmt":"2024-04-29T23:38:36","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/?p=22948"},"modified":"2025-04-06T23:10:01","modified_gmt":"2025-04-06T17:40:01","slug":"acceptance-sampling","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/acceptance-sampling\/","title":{"rendered":"What is Acceptance Sampling?"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2>About Acceptance Sampling:<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>It is a <strong>statistical measure<\/strong> used in <strong>quality control.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>It allows a company to <strong>determine the quality <\/strong>of a batch <strong>of products by selecting<\/strong> a <strong>specified number for testing.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>It <strong>tests a representative sample<\/strong> of the product for defects.\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>The <strong>quality of<\/strong> this <strong>designated sample<\/strong> will be viewed as the<strong> quality level for the entire group <\/strong>of products.<\/li>\n<li>The <strong>process involves<\/strong> first, <strong>determining the size of <\/strong>a <strong>product lot<\/strong> to be tested, then the <strong>number of products to be sampled<\/strong>, and finally the <strong>number of defects acceptable<\/strong> within the sample batch.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Products<\/strong> are<strong> chosen at random<\/strong> for sampling.<\/li>\n<li>It <strong>does not assure the quality of<\/strong> the <strong>complete set of products<\/strong> from which the sample is derived.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Origin:<\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li>Acceptance sampling in its <strong>modern industrial form<\/strong> dates <strong>from the early 1940s.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>It was popularized by Dodge and Romig and <strong>originally applied by <\/strong>the <strong>U.S. military<\/strong> to the <strong>testing of bullets during World War II.\u00a0<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><strong>Need for Acceptance Sampling:<\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li>A <strong>company cannot test every<\/strong> one of its <strong>products at all times<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>There may be <strong>too many to inspect<\/strong> at a reasonable cost or within a reasonable timeframe.<\/li>\n<li>Also, <strong>comprehensive testing might damage the product<\/strong> or make it unfit for sale in some way.\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>Testing a small sample would be indicative without ruining the bulk of the product run.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<hr \/>\n<h3>Q1: What is Voter Verifiable Paper Audit Trail (VVPAT)?<\/h3>\n<p>It is an independent system that consists of two parts, namely, a VVPAT Printer and VVPAT Status Display Unit (VSDU) attached to the Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs), that allow the voters to verify that their votes are cast as intended. When a vote is cast, a slip is printed containing the serial number, name, and symbol of the candidate and remains exposed through a transparent window for 7 seconds. Thereafter, this printed slip automatically gets cut and falls into the sealed drop box of the VVPAT.
