Their skin is covered by a thin layer of small coarse hairs.<\/li>\n<li>It is easily recognised by its sheer size and magnificent tusks. It is a <strong>keystone species<\/strong> in Arctic marine ecosystems.<\/li>\n<li>Walruses are <strong>terrestrial, marine mammals<\/strong>, meaning they can swim in the ocean and walk on land and sea ice.<\/li>\n<li>They typically eat mollusks, but worms, snails, soft shell crabs, shrimp, and sea cucumbers can also be found on their menu.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Distribution:<\/strong> Walruses live in <strong>Arctic and sub-Arctic regions<\/strong> of the world near the North Pole. They can be found in the Pacific Ocean, Atlantic Ocean, and Arctic Ocean.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Threats:<\/strong> It is threatened by commercial hunting, but today the biggest danger it faces is climate change.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Conservation status:<\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>IUCN Red List:<\/strong> Vulnerable<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<hr \/>\n<h2>Q1: What is Permafrost?<\/h2>\n<p>Permafrost is any ground that remains completely frozen\u201432\u00b0F (0\u00b0C) or colder\u2014for at least two years straight.
