The river flows through the Banswara district, which comes under the Vagad regi<\/span><b>on.\u00a0<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Before entering Gujarat, t<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">he river makes a `<\/span><b>U` shaped loop in Rajasthan.\u00a0<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Finally, the river <\/span><b>surrenders <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">itself<\/span><b> to the Arabian Sea<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> by a wide estuary <\/span><b>near Khambat.\u00a0<\/b><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The <\/span><b>total length <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">of Mahi is<\/span><b> 583 km.<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The total drainage area of the river is about 34,842 sq.km.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It is <\/span><b>bounded by<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> the <\/span><b>Aravalli Hills <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">on the north and the northwest, by the <\/span><b>Malwa Plateau<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> on the east, by the <\/span><b>Vindhyas <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">on the south, and by the<\/span><b> Gulf of Khambhat<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> on the west.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The <\/span><b>silt brought down by the Mahi River<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> has <\/span><b>contributed to the thinning of the Gulf of Khambat<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and the <\/span><b>abandonment of its once-rich ports.<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The<\/span><b> riverbed lies<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> considerably<\/span><b> lower than the land level<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and is of <\/span><b>little use for irrigation.<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Tributaries<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">: The main tributaries of the river are <\/span><b>Eru, Nori, Chap, Som, Jakham, <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Moran, Anas, Panam, and Bhadar.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\">The Mahi River has a dam on it, namely, the <b style=\"font-size: inherit;\">Mahi Bajaj Sagar Dam<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b>Source<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">: <\/span><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.ndtv.com\/india-news\/3-killed-after-vehicles-fall-into-river-as-bridge-collapses-in-gujarat-8846889\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">NDTV<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Mahi River is a major west-flowing interstate river in India, traversing Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, and Gujarat before draining into the Arabian Sea.
