Indian Cyber Crime Coordination Centre (I4C) recently warned of a rise in financial fraud involving deceptive advertisements that use manipulated videos of the Prime Minister, the finance minister, and chief ministers to promote fake government welfare schemes.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b>About Indian Cybercrime Coordination Centre\u00a0<\/b><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">I4C has been established under the <\/span><b>Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA)<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> to act as a <\/span><b>nodal point <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">at the National level in the <\/span><b>fight against cybercrime.\u00a0<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The I4C was <\/span><b>dedicated <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">to the nation on 10th January <\/span><b>2020<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It is designed to provide a framework and <\/span><b>ecosystem for law enforcement agencies (LEAs) to deal with cybercrime<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> in a coordinated and comprehensive manner.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">I4C <\/span><b>brings together academia, industry, public, and government <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">in the prevention, <\/span><b>detection, investigation, and prosecution of cybercrimes.<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><b>Headquarters: New Delhi.<\/b><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2><b>Indian Cybercrime Coordination Centre <\/b><b>Objectives<\/b><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">To act as a nodal point to curb cybercrime in the country.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">To strengthen the fight against cybercrime committed against women and children.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><b>Facilitate easy filing of cybercrime<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">-related complaints and <\/span><b>identifying cybercrime trends<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and patterns.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">To act as an <\/span><b>early warning system for LEAs<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> for proactive cybercrime prevention and detection.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><b>Awareness creation<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> among the public about preventing cybercrime.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><b>Assist states\/UTs in the capacity building of Police Officers<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, <\/span><b>Public Prosecutors <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">and Judicial Officers in the area of cyber forensics, investigation, cyber hygiene, cyber-criminology, etc.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><b>Identify the research problems and needs of LEAs<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and <\/span><b>take up R&amp;D activities<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> in <\/span><b>developing new technologies<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and forensic tools in collaboration with academia\/research institutes within India and abroad.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><b>Suggest amendments, <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">if required, <\/span><b>in cyber laws<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> to keep pace with fast-changing technologies and international cooperation.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">To <\/span><b>coordinate all activities related <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">to the <\/span><b>implementation of Mutual Legal Assistance Treaties (MLAT)<\/b> <b>with other countries<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The <\/span><b>social media handle \u201cCyberDost\u201d<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, which provides cyber safety tips at regular intervals.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">I4C has envisaged the <\/span><b>Cyber Crime Volunteers Program<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> to bring together citizens with a passion to serve the nation on a single platform and contribute to the fight against cybercrime in the country.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><b>Pratibimb geospatial crime mapping platform maps locations of criminals<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and <\/span><b>crime infrastructure<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> on a map to give visibility to
