Many cases of EPTB may not have a corresponding lung infection.<\/li>\n<li>It can affect any organ and is <strong>more prevalent<\/strong> in people <strong>living with HIV.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Issues with EPTB<\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li>A troubling aspect of EPTB infection is the <strong>prolonged presence of disease markers <\/strong>even after the infection is resolved with treatment.<\/li>\n<li>Diagnosis and treatment protocols for all organs affected by EPTB do not exist.<\/li>\n<li>The twin challenges in tackling EPTB are <strong>lack of awareness<\/strong>, even among physicians, and <strong>lack of accurate diagnostic<\/strong> and treatment criteria.<\/li>\n<li>Some EPTB patients who complete anti-TB therapy may still find themselves affected by the disease.<\/li>\n<li><strong>INDEX-TB guidelines<\/strong> were formulated over a decade ago and need to be updated with the latest data and experience.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<hr \/>\n<h3>Q1: What is Tuberculosis?<\/h3>\n<p>Tuberculosis is a bacterial infection spread through inhaling tiny droplets from the coughs or sneezes of an infected person.
