{"id":23695,"date":"2024-05-27T12:37:31","date_gmt":"2024-05-27T07:07:31","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/?p=23695"},"modified":"2025-10-06T12:28:08","modified_gmt":"2025-10-06T06:58:08","slug":"colours","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/colours\/","title":{"rendered":"What are colours?"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2>About Colours:\u00a0<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>It is a <strong>type of information<\/strong> our eyes receive and process based on electromagnetic radiation.<\/li>\n<li>An object is said to have a colour based on frequencies of <strong>visible-light radiation it absorbs<\/strong>, reflects, and\/or scatters, we can perceive the object to have a particular colour.<\/li>\n<li><strong>How do human eyes identify colours?<\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li>In the human eye, <strong>the rod and the cone cells receive information<\/strong> in the light that strikes the eye: the rod cells record brightness while the cone cells record the wavelengths, which the human brain interprets as colour.<\/li>\n<li>Human beings have <strong>three types of cone cells.<\/strong> Each type is sensitive to light of a different wavelength, and they work together to input colour information to the brain.<\/li>\n<li>The possession of three types of cone cells is why humans are called <strong>trichromats.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>Similarly, while human vision is restricted to wavelengths <strong>from 400 nm to 700 nm<\/strong> (visible light), honeybees can also \u2018see\u2019 ultraviolet light and mosquitoes and some beetles can access information in some wavelengths of infrared radiation.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>How are colours rendered?<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>There are two broad ways to render colours:\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Additive colouring: <\/strong>In this, light of <strong>different wavelengths is \u2018mixed\u2019<\/strong> to yield light of one combined colour.
