{"id":23727,"date":"2024-05-28T07:54:19","date_gmt":"2024-05-28T02:24:19","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/?p=23727"},"modified":"2025-10-06T12:03:46","modified_gmt":"2025-10-06T06:33:46","slug":"ins-kiltan","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/ins-kiltan\/","title":{"rendered":"INS Kiltan"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2>About INS Kiltan:\u00a0<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>It is an indigenously-built <strong>anti-submarine warfare<\/strong> stealth corvette.<\/li>\n<li>This is the third of the four <strong>Kamorta-class corvettes<\/strong> being built under Project 28.<\/li>\n<li>The ship derives its name from one of the islands in the Aminidivi group of the strategically located Lakshadweep and Minicoy group of islands.<\/li>\n<li>Designed by the Indian Navy\u2019s in-house organisation Directorate of Naval Design and built by Garden Reach Shipbuilders &amp; Engineers (GRSE) in Kolkata<\/li>\n<li><strong>Features<\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li>It is India\u2019s first major warship to have a <strong>superstructure of carbon fibre composite material<\/strong> resulting in improved stealth features, lower top weight and maintenance costs.<\/li>\n<li>The ship hosts a predominantly indigenous cutting-edge weapons and sensors suite which includes heavyweight torpedoes, ASW rockets, 76 mm caliber Medium Range gun and two multi-barrel 30 mm guns as close-in-weapon system (CIWS) with dedicated fire control systems, <a href=\"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/upsc-exam\/types-of-missiles-in-india\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\">missile<\/a> decoy rockets (Chaff), advanced ESM (Electronic Support Measure) system, most advanced bow mounted sonar and air surveillance radar.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<hr \/>\n<h3>Q1: What are Submarines?<\/h3>\n<p>Submarines are specialised watercrafts capable of independent underwater operations using onboard power and systems for extended periods.
