{"id":23799,"date":"2026-06-03T11:45:04","date_gmt":"2026-06-03T06:15:04","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/?p=23799"},"modified":"2026-06-03T14:52:17","modified_gmt":"2026-06-03T09:22:17","slug":"rudram-ii-missile","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/rudram-ii-missile\/","title":{"rendered":"RudraM-II Missile"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2><b>RudraM-II Missile Latest News<\/b><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Recently, the Defence Research &amp; Development Organisation (DRDO) and the Indian Air Force (IAF) have conducted the successful flight-tests of the RudraM-II missile.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b>About RudraM-II Missile<\/b><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It is an indigenously-developed <\/span><b>solid-propelled air-launched missile system.<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It is meant for <\/span><b>Air-to-Surface role<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> to neutralise many types of enemy assets.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It has been indigenously developed by <\/span><b>Research Centre Imarat, Hyderabad<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> as the nodal DRDO laboratory in collaboration with other sister labs.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2><b>Key Features of RudraM-II Missile<\/b><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Speed: <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It can reach a peak <\/span><b>speed of Mach 5.5.<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Range:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> It is capable of striking targets at a distance of <\/span><b>approximately 300 km<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Payload:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> It can carry a warhead <\/span><b>weighing up to 200 kg.<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It can be <\/span><b>deployed from aircraft like Sukhois flying<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> at altitudes ranging from 3 to 15 km.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It acts <\/span><b>as a key force multiplier<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and intends to eventually replace the older Russian-origin Kh-31 <\/span><b>anti-radiation missiles.<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It uses a <\/span><b>hybrid navigation system<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> combining an <\/span><b>inertial navigation system, GPS<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and a sophisticated passive homing head that detects radio frequency emissions across a wide frequency band.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3><b>What is an Anti-Radiation Missile?<\/b><\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">These are designed to detect, track and neutralise the adversary\u2019s radar, communication assets and other radio frequency sources, which are generally part of their air defence systems.<\/span><\/li>\n<li aria-level=\"1\"><b>Such a missile\u2019s navigation mechanism comprises<\/b>\n<ul>\n<li><b>Inertial navigation system:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> A computerised mechanism that uses changes in the object\u2019s own position \u2014 coupled with GPS, which is satellite-based.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><b>Passive homing head:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> A system that can detect, classify and engage targets (radio frequency sources in this case) over a wide band of frequencies as programmed.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b>Source: <\/b><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.pib.gov.in\/PressReleasePage.aspx?PRID=2268099&amp;reg=3&amp;lang=1\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">PIB<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>RudraM-II Missile is an indigenously-developed solid-propelled air-launched missile system.
