{"id":23799,"date":"2024-05-30T11:45:04","date_gmt":"2024-05-30T06:15:04","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/?p=23799"},"modified":"2025-10-13T13:07:14","modified_gmt":"2025-10-13T07:37:14","slug":"rudram-ii-missile","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/rudram-ii-missile\/","title":{"rendered":"RudraM-II Missile"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2>About RudraM-II Missile:\u00a0<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>It is an indigenously-developed <strong>solid-propelled air-launched missile system<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>It is meant for <strong>Air-to-Surface<\/strong> role to neutralise many types of enemy assets.<\/li>\n<li>It is designed to have a strike <strong>range of almost 350-km<\/strong>, from a Sukhoi-30MKI fighter of the IAF.<\/li>\n<li>It involves a number of state-of-the-art indigenous technologies developed by various DRDO laboratories that have been incorporated in the missile system.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>RudraM series missiles<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>These are being developed by the <a href=\"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/upsc-exam\/defence-research-and-development-organisation-drdo\/\" target=\"_blank\">DRDO<\/a> as <strong>new-generation anti-radiation missiles<\/strong> (NGARMs) for destroying a variety of enemy surveillance, communication, radars, and command and control centers on the ground.<\/li>\n<li>The 150-km range <strong>RudraM-I missile<\/strong>, with INS-GPS navigation with a passive homing head for the final attack, was first tested in Oct 2020.<\/li>\n<li>The <a href=\"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/upsc-exam\/types-of-missiles-in-india\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\">missiles<\/a> are meant for <strong>suppression of enemy air defences<\/strong> (SEAD) from long stand-off ranges, which in turn will enable IAF strike aircraft to carry out bombing missions without hindrance.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>What is an anti-radiation missile?<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>These are designed to detect, <strong>track and neutralise the adversary\u2019s radar<\/strong>, communication assets and other radio frequency sources, which are generally part of their air defence systems.<\/li>\n<li>Such a missile\u2019s navigation mechanism comprises\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Inertial navigation system<\/strong>: A computerised mechanism that uses changes in the object\u2019s own position \u2014 coupled with <a href=\"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/gps\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\">GPS<\/a>, which is satellite-based.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Passive homing head:<\/strong> A system that can detect, classify and engage targets (radio frequency sources in this case) over a wide band of frequencies as programmed.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<hr \/>\n<h3>Q1.
