{"id":24054,"date":"2025-10-27T10:33:35","date_gmt":"2025-10-27T05:03:35","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/?p=24054"},"modified":"2025-10-27T12:38:41","modified_gmt":"2025-10-27T07:08:41","slug":"national-crisis-management-committee-ncmc","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/national-crisis-management-committee-ncmc\/","title":{"rendered":"National Crisis Management Committee"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2><b>National Crises Management Committee Latest News<\/b><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Recently, the Cabinet Secretary chaired a meeting of the National Crises Management Committee (NCMC) to review preparedness for the impending cyclone in Bay of Bengal.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b>About National Crises Management Committee<\/b><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It is established under the <\/span><b>Disaster Management Act, 2005<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> by the central government.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The committee shall be the <\/span><b>apex body<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> for dealing with the situation arising out of a major disaster.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><b>Composition of National Crises Management Committee<\/b>\n<ul>\n<li><b>Chairperson:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> It is headed by the <\/span><b>cabinet secretary.<\/b><\/li>\n<li><b>Members:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> Members will constitute the <\/span><b>Union home secretary,<\/b> <b>defence secretary,<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> secretary (co-ordination), cabinet secretariat and member and head of department, the National Disaster Management Authority.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The chairperson of the NCMC <\/span><b>can co-opt experts<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> or officers from central\/state governments or any organisation, based on the nature of the crisis.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2><b>Role of National Crisis Management Committee<\/b><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It shall <\/span><b>evaluate preparedness<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> to respond to <\/span><b>any threatening disaster situation<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, emerging disaster situation or disaster and give directions, where necessary, for enhancing such preparedness.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It <\/span><b>shall coordinate and monitor<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> actions of the concerned ministries or departments of the government of India, state governments, national authority, state authorities, governmental and non-governmental organisations in relation to disaster response.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It shall <\/span><b>give directions<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> as may be necessary for the proper coordination and monitoring of disaster response in the country.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b>Source:<\/b><a href=\"https:\/\/www.pib.gov.in\/PressReleasePage.aspx?PRID=2182500\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\"> <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">PIB<\/span><\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The National Crises Management Committee was established under the Disaster Management Act, 2005 by the central government.
