{"id":2446,"date":"2025-06-07T12:19:38","date_gmt":"2025-06-07T06:49:38","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/?p=2446"},"modified":"2025-06-07T15:51:38","modified_gmt":"2025-06-07T10:21:38","slug":"chenab-railway-bridge","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/chenab-railway-bridge\/","title":{"rendered":"Chenab Railway Bridge"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2>Chenab Railway Bridge Latest News<\/h2>\n<p>The Prime Minister recently inaugurated the Chenab railway bridge, the world\u2019s highest rail bridge, marking a historic milestone in India\u2019s infrastructure journey.<\/p>\n<h2>About Chenab Railway Bridge<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>It is located in the\u00a0<strong>Reasi district of Jammu and Kashmir.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>It is built at a cost of around \u20b91,400 crore above the\u00a0<strong>Chenab River.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>It is a vital\u00a0<strong>part of the Udhampur-Srinagar-Baramulla Rail Line (USBRL),<\/strong>\u00a0aimed at\u00a0<strong>connecting the Kashmir Valley to the rest of the country.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>It holds the record for the<strong>\u00a0tallest railway arch bridge globally,<\/strong>\u00a0with a deck height of 359 metres\u201435 metres higher than the Eiffel Tower.\u00a0<\/li>\n<li><strong>Spanning 1,315 metres,<\/strong>\u00a0the structure includes a\u00a0<strong>785-metre arch<\/strong>\u00a0and a 530-metre approach span, designed\u00a0<strong>to traverse a deep gorge<\/strong>\u00a0in the challenging Himalayan terrain.\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>The bridge is designed\u00a0<strong>to last 120 year<\/strong>s, capable of\u00a0<strong>withstanding winds up to 266 km\/h, earthquakes up to magnitude 8<\/strong>, and\u00a0<strong>explosions equivalent to 40 tonnes of TNT.\u00a0<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>It is engineered to endure extreme Himalayan climates,\u00a0<strong>tolerating temperatures as low as -20\u00b0C<\/strong>\u00a0and maintaining structural integrity in severe weather.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>Chenab Railway Bridge Project Execution<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Managed by Konkan Railway Corporation,<\/strong>\u00a0the project was\u00a0<strong>executed by Afcons Infrastructure, VSL India, and South Korea\u2019s Ultra Construction<\/strong>\u00a0&amp;
