{"id":24703,"date":"2026-08-18T12:10:52","date_gmt":"2026-08-18T06:40:52","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/?p=24703"},"modified":"2026-08-18T12:57:05","modified_gmt":"2026-08-18T07:27:05","slug":"exercise-maitree","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/exercise-maitree\/","title":{"rendered":"Exercise MAITREE"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2><b>Exercise MAITREE Latest News<\/b><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Recently, the Indian Army contingent departed for Thailand to participate in the 15th edition of the India-Thailand Joint Military Exercise MAITREE-XV (2026).\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b>About Exercise MAITREE<\/b><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It is the <\/span><b>joint military exercise<\/b> <b>between India and Thailand.<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It was <\/span><b>instituted in 2006<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It is an important platform for sharing best practices and <\/span><b>strengthening military cooperation<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> between India and Thailand.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In <\/span><b>Exercise MAITREE<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> 2026, the Indian Army contingent is represented <\/span><b>primarily by troops from 9 Gorkha Rifles.<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Focus:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0 The exercise will involve company-level joint training <\/span><b>focused on operations in jungle and semi-urban terrain.<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Aim:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> Aim of the exercise is to foster <\/span><b>Military Cooperation<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> between India and Thailand.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Exercise will enhance combined capabilities in executing Joint Counter Insurgency\/ Terrorist Operations in Jungle and <\/span><b>semi-urban Environment under Chapter VII of United Nations Charter.<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The training will include <\/span><b>field exercises, combat discussions, lectures<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, demonstrations and a culminating validation exercise.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The contingents will also exchange operational experience and showcase contemporary <\/span><b>equipment and technologies<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> employed during joint operations.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Significance:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> It will further reinforce the longstanding bilateral relations between the two nations.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b>Source:<\/b> <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.pib.gov.in\/PressReleaseIframePage.aspx?PRID=2300293&amp;reg=48&amp;lang=2\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">PIB<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Exercise MAITREE is the joint military exercise between India and Thailand.
