{"id":24794,"date":"2025-10-27T06:26:38","date_gmt":"2025-10-27T00:56:38","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/?p=24794"},"modified":"2025-10-28T16:06:02","modified_gmt":"2025-10-28T10:36:02","slug":"indias-defence-production-stats","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/indias-defence-production-stats\/","title":{"rendered":"Key Stats about India\u2019s Defence Production"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2>About India\u2019s Defence Production:<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>As per the data received from all Defence Public Sector undertakings (DPSUs), other PSUs manufacturing defence items, and private companies, the <strong>value of defenceproduction<\/strong> in the country has gone up to a <strong>record-high figure of \u20b91,26,887 crore during <\/strong>Financial Year <strong>(FY) 2023-24.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>It reflects a <strong>growth of 16.7%over<\/strong> the defence production of the <strong>previous financial year.<\/strong> The value of defence production in FY 2022-23 was \u20b91,08,684 crore.<\/li>\n<li>Of the total value of production in 2023-24, <strong>79.2%<\/strong> was <strong>contributed by DPSUsand other PSUs,<\/strong> and the remaining <strong>20.8% by the private sector<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>The value of defence production has <strong>grown by more than 60% since 2019-20,<\/strong> when it stood at \u20b979,071 crore.<\/li>\n<li>India produces a raft of weapons and systems, including the <a href=\"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/lca-tejas\/\" target=\"_blank\">Tejas light combat aircraft (LCA)<\/a>, different types of helicopters, warships, tanks, artillery guns, warships, missiles, rockets, and a variety of military vehicles.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Defence exports<\/strong> also reached a <strong>record high of Rs 21,083 crore in FY 2023-24<\/strong>, reflecting a 32.5 percent growth over the previous fiscal\u2019s Rs 15,920 crore.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>India is currently <strong>exporting military hardware to around 85 countries<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h3>Q1: What is Tejas light combat aircraft (LCA)?<\/h3>\n<p>It is the lightest, smallest and tailless multi-role supersonic fighter aircraft in its class. This aircraft is designed to carry a range of air-to-air, air-to-surface, precision-guided, weapons.
