{"id":24979,"date":"2024-07-13T09:15:30","date_gmt":"2024-07-13T03:45:30","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/?p=24979"},"modified":"2025-04-07T14:35:57","modified_gmt":"2025-04-07T09:05:57","slug":"pakke-tiger-reserve","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/pakke-tiger-reserve\/","title":{"rendered":"Pakke Tiger Reserve"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2>About Pakke Tiger Reserve:<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>It is located in the East Kameng district of <strong>Arunachal Pradesh.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>It is situated <strong>north of <\/strong>the river <strong>Brahmaputra<\/strong> in the <strong>transition zone between <\/strong>the <strong>Assam plains and<\/strong> the hilly <strong>forests of Arunachal Pradesh<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>It is <strong>surrounded by<\/strong> the <strong>Tenga Reserve Forest<\/strong> to the north, <strong>Doimara Reserve Forest<\/strong> on the west, <strong>Nameri National Park <\/strong>and Tiger Reserve (Assam) on the south and some agricultural land as well as <strong>Papum Reserve Forest<\/strong> on the east.<\/li>\n<li>It is <strong>bounded by<\/strong> the <strong>Bhareli or Kameng River in<\/strong> the west and north, and by the <strong>Pakke River in<\/strong> the <strong>east<\/strong>.\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>Total Area: 862 sq.km.<\/li>\n<li>The reserves elevations range from 100 to 2,000 m (330 to 6,560 ft).<\/li>\n<li>The landscape has high species diversity and endemicity as it forms the <strong>transition zone between<\/strong> the <strong>Indian and Malayan eco-regions.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Vegetation<\/strong>: The habitat types in the park include <strong>lowland semi-evergreen<\/strong>, <strong>evergreen forest,<\/strong> and <strong>Eastern Himalayan broadleaf forests<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li><strong>The Nyishi tribe<\/strong> inhibits the area and plays a great role in its conservation.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Flora<\/strong>:\n<ul>\n<li>Polyalthia simiarum, Pterospermum acerifolium, Sterculia alata, Stereospermum chelonioides, Ailanthus grandis, and Duabanga grandiflor.<\/li>\n<li>About <strong>eight species of bamboo<\/strong> occur in the area.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Fauna<\/strong>: <strong>Tiger, leopard, clouded leopard,<\/strong> jungle cat, wild dog jackal, <strong>Himalayan black bear,<\/strong> binturong, elephant, gaur, sambar, hog deer, <strong>barking deer<\/strong>, wild boar, yellow throated Martin, <strong>Malayan giant squirrel,<\/strong> flying squirrel, etc.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h3>Q1: What is a Tiger Reserve?<\/h3>\n<p>Tiger Reserve is a legally declared protected area dedicated to the conservation of striped big cats. A tiger reserve, on the other hand, could be a national park or wildlife sanctuary.
