virus (CHPV) in the last few weeks, of which three patients have died. <\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b>About Chandipura Virus (CHPV)<\/b><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It belongs to the <\/span><b>Rhabdoviridae family,<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> the same virus <\/span><b>family that includes rabies, <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">although it causes a different disease.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It was first identified in 1965 in Chandipura village in Maharashtra, India, from which it gets its name.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The virus is known to <\/span><b>cause <a href=\"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/acute-encephalitis-syndrome-aes\/\" target=\"_blank\">Acute Encephalitis Syndrome<\/a> (AES)<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, a serious condition that leads to <\/span><b>inflammation of the brain.\u00a0\u00a0<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Although cases are <\/span><b>uncommon<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, outbreaks have been <\/span><b>reported in different parts of India <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">over the years, with <\/span><b>children <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">being the <\/span><b>most affected group.\u00a0<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Most reported outbreaks have occurred in<\/span><b> western and central India, particularly during the rainy season.<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><b>Transmission<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">:\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It is <\/span><b>vector-borne<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and <\/span><b>primarily spread <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">through the <\/span><b>bite of infected sand flies, <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">which are tiny blood-feeding insects.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Some studies have also suggested that <\/span><b>ticks may play a role<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> in transmitting the virus, although sand flies remain the main carrier.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">There is currently<\/span><b> no evidence<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> that <\/span><b>CHPV spreads directly from one person to another <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">through coughing, sneezing, or physical contact.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2><b>Chandipura Virus (CHPV) <\/b><b>Symptoms<\/b><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><b>Common symptoms<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> include:<\/span>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><b>High fever<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Severe headache<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><b>Loss of consciousness in severe cases<\/b><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It can <\/span><b>progress very rapidly, especially in children.\u00a0<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In some cases, symptoms may<\/span><b> worsen within a short period <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">and lead to serious <\/span><b>complications involving the brain<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and nervous system.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">CHPV can cause<\/span><b> high case fatality ratios,<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> ranging from<\/span><b> 56% to 75%,<\/b><span
