


{"id":25199,"date":"2026-04-03T11:29:49","date_gmt":"2026-04-03T05:59:49","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/?p=25199"},"modified":"2026-04-03T12:26:48","modified_gmt":"2026-04-03T06:56:48","slug":"newcastle-disease-nd","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/newcastle-disease-nd\/","title":{"rendered":"Newcastle Disease"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2><b>Newcastle Disease Latest News<\/b><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Recently, reports of Newcastle disease circulating across Europe, poultry producers across the UK are being urged to step up vigilance as the virus continues its westward spread.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b>About Newcastle Disease<\/b><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It is caused by <\/span><b>avian paramyxovirus serotype 1,<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> affects chickens and a wide range of other birds.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It is a <\/span><b>highly contagious<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and often severe disease found worldwide that affects birds including domestic poultry.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The disease appears in three forms:<\/span><b> lentogenic<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> or mild, <\/span><b>mesogenic<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> or moderate and <\/span><b>velogenic<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> or very virulent.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The lentogenic strains are very widespread but cause few disease outbreaks.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><b>Transmission:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> Infected birds shed virus in exhaled air, respiratory discharge, and feces.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The virus <\/span><b>can remain alive in manure for up to 2 months<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and in <\/span><b>dead carcasses for up to 12<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> months, however, it is easily killed by disinfectants, fumigants and direct sunlight.<\/span><\/li>\n<li aria-level=\"1\"><b>Symptoms<\/b><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none;\">\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"2\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It usually <\/span><b>presents as a respiratory disease<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, but depression, nervous manifestations, or diarrhoea may be the predominant clinical form.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"2\"><b>Respiratory signs \u2013<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> gasping, coughing, sneezing and rales<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"2\"><b>Nervous signs<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> \u2013 tremors, paralyzed wings and legs, twisted necks, circling, spasms, and paralysis<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"2\"><b>Apartial or complete drop in egg production<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> may occur.
