{"id":25230,"date":"2024-07-21T01:38:35","date_gmt":"2024-07-20T20:08:35","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/?p=25230"},"modified":"2025-04-07T16:26:05","modified_gmt":"2025-04-07T10:56:05","slug":"national-clean-air-programme","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/vajiramandravi.com\/current-affairs\/national-clean-air-programme\/","title":{"rendered":"National Clean Air Programme"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2><strong>About National Clean Air Programme:\u00a0<\/strong><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>It was launched in January, <strong>2019 by the Ministry of Environment, Forest, and Climate Change.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>It is a <strong>long-term, time-bound<\/strong>, national level strategy to <strong>tackle the air pollution problem<\/strong> across the country in a comprehensive manner.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Objectives:<\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li>Stringently <strong>implementing mitigation<\/strong> measures to prevent, control, and abate air pollution.<\/li>\n<li>Strengthening an <strong>air quality<\/strong> monitoring network across the country.<\/li>\n<li>Increasing <strong>public awareness<\/strong> and capacity building measures.\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><strong>Target<\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li>NCAP envisages reduction by 20-30% in PM 10 concentration over baseline in 2017 by 2024.<\/li>\n<li>Target has been revised to achieve reduction in PM10 level <strong>up to 40%<\/strong> or achievement of national <strong>standards (60 \u00b5g\/m3) by 2025-26.<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><strong>Implementation<\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li>In accordance with the <strong>Air (Prevention and Control of Pollution) Act, 1981<\/strong>, the <strong>Central Pollution Control Board<\/strong> (CPCB) will execute this nationwide program.<\/li>\n<li>131 non-attainment cities have been identified across the country for the implementation of the programme.<\/li>\n<li><strong>City-specific action plans<\/strong> have been developed, which include measures to strengthen the monitoring network, reduce vehicular or industrial emissions, raise public awareness, etc.<\/li>\n<li>The implementation of city-specific action plans is regularly monitored by <strong>Central and State Committees<\/strong>, namely the Steering Committee, Monitoring Committee and Implementation Committee.<\/li>\n<li>State Pollution Control Boards monitor city air quality and publish their findings on a regular basis.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<hr \/>\n<h3>Q1: What is the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB)?<\/h3>\n<p>The Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) of India is a statutory organisation under the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change.
