Andhra Pradesh.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>It is located on the <strong>Krishna River bank.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>It was <strong>built in 740 AD by Chalukya ruler Pulakesi II.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>The temple was <strong>originally located<\/strong> at the point where <strong>Tungabhadra and Krishna Rivers were merged,<\/strong> 10 km away from the current site.<\/li>\n<li>The temple was <strong>dismantled and built exactly rock-to-rock<\/strong> in the <strong>current site in 1979,<\/strong> as the <strong>original site<\/strong> was getting <strong>submerged due to<\/strong> the construction of <strong>Srisailam Dam.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Features:<\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li>Built in <strong>Nagara style,<\/strong> the temple is built <strong>on an elevated platform<\/strong> with a fortified wall around the temple.\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>The temple has a large hall with <strong>12 pillars,<\/strong> followed by the sanctum.<\/li>\n<li>There is a circumambulatory path around the sanctum for pradakshinas.<\/li>\n<li>The ceiling has a large relief of Nagaraja, as seen in other Chalukya temples.\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>The <strong>pillars in the hall have nicely engraved images<\/strong> of Lord Vishnu, Brahma, and Kumaraswarmy, and celestial couple.<\/li>\n<li>All four corners of the temple have crocodile carvings.\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<hr \/>\n<h3><strong>Q1<\/strong>: Which are the major tributaries of Krishna River?<\/h3>\n<p>The principal tributaries joining Krishna are the Ghataprabha, the Malaprabha, the Bhima, the Tungabhadra and the Musi.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Source: <\/strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.thehindu.com\/news\/national\/andhra-pradesh\/sangameswara-shrine-submerges-in-krishna-river\/article68441967.ece\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Sangameswara shrine submerges in Krishna river<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Sangameswara Temple is a Hindu Temple dedicated to Lord Shiva located in Nandyal district.
